315 CMH do they work?

They run a lot cooler as well. But still draw more power than led.

What makes them superior to both MH and HPS is the spectrum of the light. The CMH bulbs were originally designed for natural lighting display cases for business. They weren’t designed for growing pot but when our industry found them they were quickly adopted for growing. You could run one light with one bulb for the whole grow instead of having to have two bulbs. MH was originally to high K for flowering, so they came out with a phosphorous coated MH… and HPS was too yellow for growth. The color of each was dictated by the gases used in the tubes. CMH had a spectrum that was balanced at 4200k with good blue and good yellow/red.

They work great with the proper lamps. I know several farms that switched from MH/HPS to CMH and regretted it. It all depends on space, environmentals, etc. The footprint on 315’s is about 2.5’ x 2.5’ (realistic) so lighting and cooling a larger space is costly.

If you are growing in a 3’x3’ tent, you should be good. Can get umol/s around 700 at 20 inches with most brand name drivers/lamps
