I tried to get Scott over here. I know him from Ig. You will be very happy with the dryer.

Wow. What light(s) are you using? Are you using a homemade earthbox?

Large earthbox. And EVO6 from Ac infinity

I’m trying a homemade earthbox for the first time. I stopped top watering a few days ago assuming the roots are already at the water level in the tub.
I doubt my plant will reach 50% of what yours has, though.

Do you use a certain dehumidifier or are u just using a small tent?

Good grief, @PreyBird1 ! Do you own stock in hospitals and bandages? Those are some serious injuries. But I know what you mean about 24/7 pain.

The Gary Payton in my homemade earthbox doesn’t appear to be growing now. In fact, or looks wilty. I assume its roots have reached the bottom of the container. I think I am going to tepor it in a basic pot. Hopefully, it’s early enough in its age that itc will bounce back quickly.

Once the roots are established and taking water from the bottom you should be good.
Just make sure its wicking the water up into the soil. To keep the moisture right and the biology alive . I accidentally washed out the wicking corner and had to top water a little bit every time to keep the moisture right. I also use the ecowitt moisture meter. I am also using the Tforge humidifier from Ac infinity. And the controller 69pro from Ac infinity.

I was concerned the wicking soil corner might get washed out, so during construction, i took a section of thin plastic tubing the same length as is the height frim the tub bottom to the grate I used to separate the soil layer from water, and drilled a lot of 1/2" holes into it. I mean, a lot of holes! Then I placed it in the corner for wicking and filled it with soil, making sure to pack the soil in the tube so the wicking action works well.
I will put a moisture meter into the soil tomorrow to check it. I will be surprised if the soil throughout the tub is nit properly moist.
How many more days should i give it before abandoning this earthbox?

Im new to it. So i might say see where your moisture readings are and go from there.
On the ecowitt i try and range from 45% down to 30% i went as low as 25%.
I hope that helps

So those moisture percentages are from the soil measured at a few random areas of the earthbox?

I kept my meter in the middle of soil between the two plants. I had to top water a little bit to keep it up because I washed out the wicking corners .
My next run im going to make sure that I pack them in good. My plants drank 2 .1/2 gallons of water every other day. I hope that this may help you with your question

2.5 gal/day? I have only one plant in mine but it doesn’t use even half of that amount. That’s making me concerned it is not feeding from the bottom; or it isn’t wicking. I’m going to use my moisture/light meter today. I have a suspicion the box is not working properly.

Good luck with it.
You can always look on youtu.be for buildasoil.
They have tons of videos on the earthbox.
In fact the very last couple of videos they posted on their side by side comparison is with the earthboxs .https://youtu.be/z8r4zln29mY?si=W8899A4Be_8BZ8Np
Here is the latest video

Jeremy has been hugely helpful, I learn a lot from BuildASoil. I have been keeping up with his most current videos with earthbox. Top feeding for the first couple of weeks was a big tip I learned.
I am considering gently removing the plant to drop an airstone into the water reservoir. Although, I’m nit sure how to do that without screwing up the soil setup.
I realize Jeremy uses only the best lights, nutrients, feeding system, soil, etc…but his plants always seem to turn out huge, perfectly shaped, and ideal.

From this morning. The moisture meter reads the soil being very moist in the earthbox. The last time I added water was about three days ago. I began folling it this morning abd there was overflow from the drain hole almost immediately, so it’s not drinking as fast as yours was. It just seens to be very slow growing; it germinated February 9. The banana kush auto (on the left) is growing much faster.

She doesn’t look unhappy.
Maybe she is getting bigger underneath and slowly getting her roots established. That is a very big box to fill with roots. Do you know what your PAR is?

I use the Photone app. The lights were not on full blast (I forgot to turn them up after the plants got out of seedling stage.) PAR was 275 for the earthbox plant and 310 for the other one.

I turned the lights up to full and now PAR at the tip top of the earthbox plant is 427 and 535 for the other plant.

Maybe the lights nit being on full was the issue.
P.S. I’m not the sharpest crayon in the barrel.
