Copper spots on cannabis leaves

So been cleaning up garden, seen several problems but my biggest concern is mites and copper spots. It might be as simple as a magnesium deficiency or worse, a fungus. Any suggestions on fixing this problem are welcome. In the meantime I am going to dose the plants with a epsom salt mix. The problem seems to be spreading to other plants, so thinking it might be a fungus rather.

Have you found any critters yet?

Yes , seen spider mites on the plant above and the one below. The red critters are crawling under the leaves. The copper spots could be a number of issues, could even be nutrient burn. Did add some retted chicken manure a couple weeks ago, so a possible problem.

Get on top of that problem first. If the spots persist then start looking at possible disease/bacteria/fungus. Mites will do more damage faster and also pests spread the nasty stuff.

It’s still small, do you have a sterile grow area indoors to quarantine one of them?

Thank you @fist-ninja . I agree, I need to resolve this issue first. My plan is from easiest to hardest -

  • a good watering of epsom salts and foliar spray.
  • Remove infected leaves carefully on all plants.
  • Take it from there.

I have not setup an indoor grow area in 10 years. But planning on one, all the equipment is begging to be turned on. The problem with isolating one of the plants is that are are probably rooted atleast a metre into the ground.

Sounds like you know the drill. :call_me_hand: In my experience with all those different variables it’s too early to say with certainty what it is.

So this one is bigger now?

Yes, it all started here within the red circle. A couple copper spots on leaves and now transferred to surrounding plants. They are very closely planted, so could still be a fungus or nutrient defiency, or even nutrient burn!! Its about 5 plants in total infected

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Those are some nice looking ladies. You know what you’re doing though, I’m sure you can save them. How close to flowerIng are they?

Glad it looks like I know what I am doing, just firing from the hip, but have a better idea at what needs to be done. Most of the genetics are a mix and match, a lot of Durban hybrids, lemon haze, black domino, my own crosses. Nothing really special. About to pop some more autos today. Strangely some of them are getting pre-flowers, pulled a male two days ago and some have sometime to go. Its a slow life here, like growing cannabis, patience is key.

Sounds like a good life. Was hoping you were going to say you had a couple weeks at least. With such a mixed bag of strains it’s hard to isolate and treat specific problems. When I was growing outdoors in the woods I stopped putting seed in ground pretty quick. If you start in pots and then switch to burlap later and keep them above ground you can still isolate and do better pest/disease control. That’s just my preference though. I like modular things.

Thank you for the advice. Planning on doing a couple clones ( hence the indoor setup ) when they are starting to flower so that I can push through a late crop of smaller potted females. We still have sometime to go in the season but glad to say flowering here, just have to find the best plants.

I’m envious. Lol I lost my house over the summer. 5 bedroom on 1.25 acre. Needless to say I had some growing plans. That’s a long story for another day on another thread. Always a pleasure to chat with you brother. :call_me_hand: I need to try sleeping.

Don’t forget the Silicon…supposed to armor up cannabis against pests and fungal disease. Won’t cure either but will help.

I doubt that is nutrients. My guess would be fungus. I actually thought I had rust fungus one time on my plants but it turned out to be rust …:joy:
I can’t remember what I was doing might’ve been the broom or something when I swung something over my plants that had rusty water in it and it dripped on one of my flowers. Panic came to mind. But I was lucky it just turned out to be literal rust.

Whenever I have seen those copper issue arise it was usually from not enough air flow in my indoor rooms and would appear 3-4 days after a watering. My hunch is my soil was getting stagnant and roots were choking out. Looking at how close your plants are and the fact they share the same soil makes me think you need to do some pruning and get the soil breathing and perspiring and maybe consider adding something in future grows for a lil more aeration at the roots, don’t see much, if any, space under those plants for the soil to get some airflow blowing over it
