So I live in Central California and it gets 100F°+ most summer days. So with AC it only gets to 78F° indoors. I am trying to find a reasonable way to get my buds down in temp for better curing. I’ve read it’s best around 60-65F°. I’m thinking of sticking it in my AC vent. That’s pumping 64F° with a lazer thermometer but we are not going to he running the AC much longer. What have you guys came up with?
I did a freezer cure. First I made sure that my buds were dry. Then I just laid them in a beer flat and just laid them on top of everything in my floor freezer. At the same time I did a jar cure for 30 days of the other part of the same plant. The advantage of the freezer cure is that it only took 10 days. I cannot tell the difference between the two. I also did a water cure. Completely submerged in water and change the water daily. The first day the water I poured off looked like something the swamp thing would avoid. The water got progressively clearer each day. After about day five the water was almost completely clear. I did a jar cure on the other part of the plant. After drying the water cure buds I noticed that the nugs were more separated and there was very little taste or smell. I don’t know about you but I’m kind of fond of the different flavors and smells of different strains. I could not tell a discernible difference in the buzz. Here’s a pic of the cola I did the water cure on. It’s a bubblegum fem.
Here’s a pic of the buds. The one on the left is the water cure.
I have to say that the water cure was the smoothest pot I have ever smoked. I have some pics somewhere of the freezer cure vs the jar cure somewhere. If I can find them I will post. I also am in a very hot area so I cure in the fridge and it has always worked fine.
Here are some closeups of freezer and jar. This plant was just bag seed of Mexican brick weed. No nutes or soil amendments. 12/12 since I had no light. I had so much fun and learned so much this first time I now have a slot on my excel budget sheet for cannabis related expenditures. LOL.
Nice looking trichomes for mexican brick weed lol
That curing chamber would be interesting. Could throw some salmon in with it lol I’m always the type for tinkering and building my own. I’ve never heard of water curing. That’s a trip! You’d think that would just kinda make some cannabis water. Man, Mex or stress is still around??? I haven’t hear that name in a long time.
I just built one of the curing fridges for my dad for his birthday - he likes meat, so curing is a good hobby, and I get to taste all of his experiments, haha. It was about $300 for all of the materials and 3 hours worth of time to put it together and wire it.
I use one for my harvests and love it. And in all of the inbetween time cured salmon sounds great!
