GroBucket Test Group - device makes 5 gallon buckets self-watering

Hopefully, by now our GroBucket Testers have received your GroBucket gardening kits. If not, please contact me via email Carrie@GroTechGarden.com. I heard from a couple folks who’s boxes came open in transit. Had to have a nice little chat with our local Mail Center who had assured me they’d tape the boxes. Obviously, somebody missed that step, at least for some, but trusting everyone else has what you need and we’re all set to grow.

Hopefully, this will be an ongoing conversation with photos, where you can share your impressions throughout the process about:

  • Packaging
  • Clarity of Instruction
  • Ease of Use
  • Success of Grow
  • Durability & Design
  • Whatever else you may want to share

If you have any questions, please visit our GroTech Garden website and You Tube channel and don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly and I’ll do my best to assist you. You can also join our Facebook “GroTech Garden Group” to see what other Growers are up to in their GroBucket gardens.

Please provide your feedback and photos and we’ll look forward to engaging in the conversation.

Much appreciation to you all in advance,
Carrie

Look great from the packaging is great. I have a LOT OF information on All upgrades you can add.lmk if you have a question about it.

Hi there just love the idea! Unfortunately I run 25 gal fabric pots, curious do you plan to make a kit for larger pots?

I must say @carriezrun, I love how you guys utilized the packaging by printing directly on the box and it’s very self explanatory and easy to understand

Hey all got my buckets in last week the package is very nice and I have to agree the directions on the box is a great idea. I have already used 2 of the 3 and transplanted my orange and lemon trees into 5 gallon buckets with some palm citrus soil mix and because they are citrus plants only using the water to about the second notch on the water indicator. I will say it was super easy to set up and already I dont know why but my trees have grown. I had them in 5 gallon plastic pots but I dont think the 5 gallon pots are really 5 gallons cause when I pulled the trees the roots went all the way to the bottom and I had to use a whole bag of new soil to line the bottom of the 5 gallon bucket even with the GroBucket. Any way will be adding pics of the trees soon and soon will try the last one I have with the girls and do a side by side, only thing I’m still wondering about is how to add nutes? I’m thinking about making up a nute mix and top watering as normal but rather then getting the water out leaving it in the bottom of the bucket for a few days and watering only twice a week because theoretically the plant roots when they get dry will grow bigger to search for water which will be at the bottom of the soil because of the evaporation and when the reservoir drys out it will then search to the bottom of the bucket and absorb from what comes from the seam between the bucket and the strainer which would cause the roots to encapsulate the strainer having a firm solid base and allowing for constant feeding as long as there is water in the bottom of the reservoir only thing would be the ph of what is there. Any ideas and suggestions?

I was wondering, if you add an air stone to the reservoir if that would help with maintaining PH and keep the nutes suspended in your water?

Hey, there. Thanks for reaching out. We have heard this multiple times and definitely have it on our radar for the future. Our next release will be the irrigations system and GroBuddy that will make decorative planters self-watering. Then, the sky’s the limit. Appreciate your input.

Hey, there
As I stated in original post, I truly know just about nothing about growing cannabis. So, I’m hoping others respond with their expertise. Thank you for engaging and coming up with and sharing ideas.

I was thinking same as @nacho151 airstone to keep water from getting stagnant. Would that be acceptable? @carriezrun or do you want the first run stock according to directions? Thanks and Happy Growing All!!

No…you guys have free reign on doing what you think best for growing cannabis. I’m interested to see what changes, supplements, additions, etc. can be made to most ensure the best growing success. I’m excited to see how it goes. Thanks

I asked a friend who’s been growing cannabis in GroBuckets and this is what he suggested:

As far as adding nutes you can do it either way as they will wicker up through the soil just as the water does and unless you are using a salt-based nutes you shouldn’t have any residue build up.

I would also recommend using Fish!t with your watering and feedings as that is designed to keep your roots free from any build up and allow your plant to feed on what it needs to flourish to its fullest potential.

You can also top feed if you so desire as long as your roots are getting the nutes it doesn’t make much of a difference.

**Fish!t is an organic soil conditioner, if you haven’t heard of it

so first feedback for @carriezrun… ok so today as i was setting up my first bucket. I wanted to use blk buckets for the darkness factor. the green or white buckets let ,not light but brightness into the chamber. When I put it all together I realized not all 5 gal buckets have same dimensions. Can i saw down the tube so it will fit blk bucket?
