A couple of weeks ago my Granddaughter’s Grandmother and Step Grandfather were at my house and saw my garlic experiment. Her Grandmother asked how to do it. I explained it to her and gave her some net pots. She just sent me these pictures and asked if they were ready for soil. I wish mine had sprouted this fast. Her secret was separating the cloves before soaking in the jar.

I’m thinking about putting in a whole tent of various veggies in soil no hydro. Hydro stuff just doesn’t taste good to me. Groceries are getting outrageous. This year was horrible bone dry for 3+ months, my monthly water bills were averaging $100-150 just to water the girls and my main little 12x15 garden. I can go buy it at the store for less than that. Utilities are also going bonkers. Just 5 years ago my water bill was $35 for 3 MONTHS. Now it is $150 for ONE MONTH. That’s a 1500% increase, for those of us on SS, we got a 3.5% raise……something is very very wrong. Where in the fuck they get these COLA’S is beyond me.

I’m just starting them in hydro/Kratky and when they’re ready I’m putting them in soil. I’m thinking that the tomatoes, Zucchini and Squash could get out of control real fast in hydro. I was a little surprised that a lot of people don’t realize that growing in hydro costs more than growing in soil. For veggies I’m always going to put them in soil, and I’m going to do my winter cannabis grows in soil from now on.

That a really great project you got going on with all the veggies natcho! Is it just me or a few of your starts deficient in cal/mag, looks like classic symptoms.

Every time I water them I’m giving them Calmag to help with maintaining the pH. The tomatoes are just getting to much light and I dialed it down a few days ago. They do like the Dakine 420 nutrients though. It’s the first attempt growing indoors, so there is a huge learning curve for me. So far I’ve been pretty lucky I haven’t killed them.
