Yes they are! If you search Grobucket on the forum, check out the test thread here on the forum. You can order them in 3 packs or 10 packs!

Haven’t looked at them yet, but I’m gonna guess you DON’T make holes in the bottom of your 5 gal bucket?

Thanks!

Just drill a 5/16 hole 3.5 inches from the bottom of the bucket for a drain and center the water tube on it.

How much space does it take up gallon wise? Looks like about a gallon and a half.

Thanks

1 gallon. Anything over a gallon comes out the drain hole if drilled at the right spot. The gap between the top and the water is why it air prunes.

I just popped over to Amazon and looked at them, they don’t show the bottom (inside) of the insert, are their wicks in them to get the water to the top of the insert?

Thanks

@sssportsmfg You pack your soil or coco around the base of the insert and it works as the wick.

@sssportsmfg here is a picture of the inside of the insert after the Dakine grow. Ignore the dirt the picture was taken before I cleaned it after the harvest.

Looks like the bottom soil would be so wet it would kill the roots. How was your root mass? Not even sure why they put slots in the top of the insert, seems like the soil wouldn’t be in contact with the water in the insert very long as the water in the insert went down. Works good though?

@sssportsmfg here are some root pictures I took.

Humm I started with the base, then the Bloom, then the Shock and Awe, then the Cal Mag last, maybe that is why I have some crystals in the bottom of the 5 gal bucket. But three of them were all mixed together in the box, so that could be it too. I just wanted to see if the PPM was right after the mix and it was spot on.

Well they certainly look like they were healthy enough ! What inoculant did you use?

The slots in the top are for air pruning. I top water for 30 days before I use the water reservoir, it gives the roots a chance to grow. The 1st day when I put them in the buckets I give them Clonex solution and super thrive, then just pHed water for 30 days, after 30 days then Dakine nutes! I use Fox Farm Ocean Forrest soil, it’s pretty hot soil.

So you don’t use a separate inoculant ? Like Great White, Recharge, Mycos or one of the others (hundreds of them)

I haven’t so far! I only use the Clonex solution and super thrive for fast recovery for transplant shock.

I’ll tell you I have always used them, but not nearly as much as this grow, and I gotta tell you, I think this is going to be my best grow ever. Another thing I did this grow was to do two waters with nutes, then a flush with only Silica, and Recharge, my plants are loving it so healthy. They have two more days to go to week three of flower, and they are already starting to pack on the trikes. They are starting to stink up a storm too. Wish I had had the Dakine nutes this past week, but I get them tomorrow, and will finish the grow with them.

Thanks for all the info much appreciated !!

With the Dakine nutes I fed once a week for 2 weeks and 3rd week flushed with Atomic Root Powder. Amazing nutes!

Basically that is what I am doing, I have to water every 3rd day, so two times a week and a day left over, then the next day is the flush, this grow I am using the Recharge, but when I get the nutes then I will have the Atomic root powder, that is one of the things that got a broken lid and dumped in with two other things. I am in 7 gal Radicle bags and coco with about 10% pearlite. I am at 1gal and 3 quarts and a half on the water amount, just under 2 gal per plant every three days. Thirsty girls lol.
