Hey everybody! So going to have to get my house tented for mites so going to be switching the plants i have going to outdoor. I’m looking for some tips on keeping the bugs away from the plants. What do you all use for pest management outdoor that works well? In advance thanks for your time and tips
I start with plants, such as Marigolds, chives, dill, catnip, and hope to be adding mums this year. I also let green lacewings go a couple time a year, along with ladybugs. I do spray Regalia and Actinovate in rotation for mold and mildew prevention.
Awesome thank you Mr. Dforce
Hazelnut shells will also help with snails and slugs.
Table salt also works for slugs. Just put it around the grow not to close to the plants.
Don’t forget the diatomaceous earth. Works on pretty much anything that crawls it cuts them up. Just ground up diatoms from the ocean deposits. 100% non toxic.
You can use a simple duster with it, or if you wanna get fancy you can get a electric powder sprayer.

@nacho151 @Dforce @sssportsmfg all on point. Other points of concern are latent humidity, stagnant water, if at all possible elevation from the ground. Some of my most successful grows outside were about 1’ off the ground, minimal humidity of about 30%, high airflow and no stagnation.
Bugs outside are simply a fact of life. Don’t freak out if you see them, don’t go crazy with pesticide and such. Not all bugs are bad, and this is like a really well kept secret apparently, weed grows in the wild without man’s help!!! Mind blown!!!
If you only have a few bugs forget about it. If you see things are getting out of control I advise using a 99% iso alcohol 10/1 water mix, 10 water 1 alcohol. It kills damn near everything on contact and dries before it can severely damage the plant.
If your business goes great until the end and then you see mites or some such awfulness, remember you can always wash your weed post harvest.
TLDR: Don’t worry about some bugs, they will come. Worry about problematic bugs, colonies, etc, but not just some bugs.
Are your plants going to be outside for the rest of their life, or for just a short time while the tent is on? If this is the case treat them three times with Captain Jack’s dead bug three days apart before returning to the tent. Spray the top of your soil too. This will take care of all the critters you don’t want inside before you put them back.
On my outdoor crop I’m going to be using predatory mites this year. I already have lacewings naturally occurring and ladybugs flying around also.
A site with good air / wind flow and lots of birds. That seems to keep pest problems minimal.
I was planning to leave them out there but I like the idea of putting then back inside much better. I’ll give that a shot thanks hap!
Will keep the alcohol mix in mind. Thank you skinny.
Got plenty of that!
