So can we talk about harvest time… so as I have said this is my first grow. My question is what are some of your favorite drying methods and curing methods.
I guess i am trying to compare the differences between all the ways out there.
I am sure there are many different ways to play the game.
I do it very simple and old school, never have I had a problem
Chop it, hang upside down, either whole plant or by branches, check on it everyday/inspect.
When you can hear the branch before it’s breaking point, its got a certain sound then just snapping the branch you know it’s dry enough.
I don’t pay attention to humidity (I hear people moaning ) or anything like that, but, if you know you have very low humidity you don’t want it to dry to fast. I then put in mason jars and burp, just like a newborn.
I would for sure listen to the others, it’s just how I do it, I don’t use a lot of science, I grow, I smoke, I am happy.
That was my plan to do that is the only way I know of … I was just wondering if there any thing different.
Do you trim before dry or after. I was thinking a little bit of both
So I’m in SoCal. My humidity varies quite a bit. Summer bout 30%. Winter 45ish. Both of these numbers will retire different times obviously.
Typically I harvest my plants. And either hang them in and one whole plant. Or break that plant down. Or after harvest cut bud sections off straight away and put onto drying rack. Again all of these methods take different times.
Avg time for buds to be processed. Is between 4-14 days depending on time of year and the way I choose to dry.
hang to dry… 3-4 days… then to paper bags and weigh every day… when weight drop is next to nothing into mason jars with 62% bovedas burping for 2 weeks… other wise I wet trim and live freeze…lol… then extract extract extract…
That was my thought behind wet trim is freezing it for a couple of harvests them make some bubble @Ladithief
That is my Rh during the winter here summer that is gonna be a completely different ballgame
This bubble I made from Gigabud live frozen yesterday… probably about 1/10 of the final from what I ran… it is 73u and is absolutely full melt… I peel the oxidized resin layer protecting it and the melting bubbling is from the temperature of my thumb…
That looks amazing
That’s awesome!
I need a pack of matches, a pin, and a glass to go with that … I’m all set
But in all seriousness. The brown paper bags from the grocery store are really good. As mentioned above. I do use them as well.
the paper bag method am i staying on top of the humidity or do i not really worry about it
Absolutely… moisture is heavy… that is what the weighing is all about…and if you go to 40%RH Boveda back or integra etc…
ok so if i understood that if i dry to much use a Boveda to bring it back
I also hang full plants or branches (remove large fan leaves first for any technique) then hang to dry in a 60% rh controlled space for 5 days then reduce rh to 45% over next 5 days checking buds daily and when u can snap a stalk inside a good size bud before the stalk bends to 45° angle it is dry enough for a jar and starting cure.
what temp would you keep it at… I will be drying in my tent to keep smell down. so i take it you do a dry trim
72° f first 24-36 hrs then 60.8 °f for remainder should slow it down to 10-14 day dry times;)
Yes dry trim is best, you don’t need to worry it will all come off Easily…even with your hands when dry!
I do both. I prefer dry trimming for buds quality and wet trim for extraction quality;) but ya dry trim is faster if u hand trim first
