Do you scrub the outgoing air at your grow facility? Are there local ordinances that you have to comply with in terms of odor control and how strict are they?
I like a mix of exhausting and scrubbing 12 inch can fans and filters, along with some vaportek vapor cartridge units and carts.
Can you link me to the exact vaportek vapor unit you use? Also, how well do they work compared to a Can Fan 12" with a Can 150 carbon filter? I’m not familiar with these units and would like some first hand feedback.

I use a combo of two vaporteks and 6 inch can filter combos per 5000ft. I like the vaporteks not overwhelming just really masks the smell well. I use the vaporteks down low and filter fans up top my warehouse is 18ft tall.
Bumping this older topic for the folks who’ve joined since it was created. What do all of you use for odor control at your grow? Do you get any complaints from neighbors?
I have a hog farm. 150 pigs covers up all sorts of smells… The neighbours are more likely to complain about the pigs getting out and digging up their yards.
yeah I’d imagine for an outdoor grow the smells don’t get concentrated like they do for an indoor or greenhouse setup.
Come close to harvest with the right breeze and time of day it can get pretty stinky - the greenhouses especially - but we are out on a farm - and the pigs definitely mask the smells well. Plus we actually have a lot of skunks that live in the area so a pungent stench isn’t that unusual…
I know that Surna can help with odor control. Check out the blog on this subject.

Wow, those new regulations sound frustrating. There’s no way to know if what you are doing for odor control meets the city’s standards. @SurnaInc - can you share any of the steps that your clients have gone through in retrofitting in new odor controls?
I was just at a large greenhouse operation (100k sq. ft +) that was using one of these: http://www.piiansystems.com/
It’s essentially an odor neutralizer that injects into your area. They use it in a bunch of commercial applications like landfills, sludge beds, sewage treatment, etc… They didn’t have it up and running yet. I really want to see it in action. Might be able to update you in a couple months.
You get a unit that essentially looks like this:
That looks interesting. They don’t say exactly what chemicals they use but it looks analogous to what Febreeze attempts to do with chemicals that actually neutralize the odors:

They do say that they tailor the odor control substances specific to your odor profile though.
Im currently looking to try different things for odor control than I previously mentioned a while ago. I am growing indoors with alot of gassy strains like triangle og, motobreath and gmo to name a few. Need to rethink this odor control thing.
