Giving that guy I barely knew $3200 for a pound I never looked at.
You did say “cannabis” mistake and not a growing cannabis mistake
Lost all my collection of genetics from bag seed and crosses made with them from 1979 thru 1986. Included were several Columbian, Thai. And California bay area seeds, Real Maui too, my childhood friend was going to college there . His girlfriend at the time threw them in the garbage.
I feel you pain.
Ouch. All the growers on the site just collectively winced as we read that post from @budrunner. Who knows what amazing landrace genetics were lost in that garbage run!
The best part of plant breeding is you can pick for the traits you love again. It’s all in the genetic materia.
Same experience
Not initially asking the right questions when doing facility design. We treated our first project like any other office building, restaurant, etc. We ran the calcs and created the plans without asking 1. What their plants needed…2. What size HVAC units would you prefer. We taken lessons learned and it made us better Engineers.
My experience is growers generally know what they want out of a build. I often have trouble finding an exact match for materials. It took us a good year to design a 20K sqft Greenhouse that could finally meet our requirements. The engineers that worked with us made all the difference.
Sometimes there is an innovation that the engineers, know about that the rest of us should. Two examples with concrete come to mind. Using the thermal capacity of my concrete floors as an active part of my HVAC system. The second is low density concrete for my floors as a better way to keep my greenhouse floors dry. Seems counterintuitive, but the numbers don’t lie. Keeping them clean is a different story.
I am going to bet that we are going to be the first business to start making ice using off-peak electricity. And using the ice in the day for cooling. Boy, I want to see the cost saving numbers are going to be nuts in hot and wet climates. I want to see the delta T’s we could generate for a growroom and a greenhouse 100 feet long. The electric usage under dual metering and the cost to make ice as a thermal sink.
Oh engineers be still my heart with the ideas you come up with.
One more idea is how to integrate the top of the line honeywell environmental control panel. It’s the large building model, 1024 nodes for monitoring plus expansion board with DP Controls. I believe they will except any sensor written to the standard. The control panel also is Ethernet monitoriable, with cell phone backup. I think this panel could control anything I could come up with. @GrowFlux, could you integrate to this?
