Well guys I know a lot of you saw the post by @ArtVandalay (Mark) about the light at Home Depot. The 1000 watt for $369.00 Made by Boost lighting.
I also know that Boost is not known for making LED grow lights, but based on all the information that I asked and received from them on their light I decided to try one out. I actually figured that they wouldn’t have them for the $369 price anymore as they are listed for $1600 on their website. This light uses all Samsung LED’s for the main diodes and are as follows LM301H 3000K Warm White/ 5000K Cool White / Osram Red 660nm/ UV 395nm/ IR 730nm
Anyway I ordered one on Monday and just got it. So without further ado, and without actually turning it on. Here is my impressions.
The packing is absolutely stellar, the configuration of the box and packing is great. It is double boxed with the rock hard L shaped corner pieces on all four corners to keep the carriers from destroying the box. I took pictures of the unpacking and they are below. Stood on end it takes up only 10" x 12".
First it is built like a frigging TANK. The center piece that holds the light bars is 100% aluminum. As is all the actual light bars, and very nicely anodized in a satin silver anodizing. And is HEAVY, which means that it should have great heat dissipation. It is built much like the style of my current light the LUXX 860 pro 860 watt. However the LUXX is 5’x5’ and cannot be taken apart for storage This one is 1000 watt and very compact taken apart easily. So without further ado, on to the pictures.
This is the double boxing:
The control end of things. This is the main tube that holds the LED drivers. All aluminum and ribbed on all four sides. It has two Jacks for daisy chaining or for hooking up a external controller RJ-11 jacks which are an industry standard. With a switch for stand alone or controlled.
The hanger for the main tube with the LED driver is also nicely designed it has slidable brackets so that you can match the cross braces on your tent ceiling. The adjustment slot runs the full length of the main tube.
Ignore my messy basement lol…this is one of the light bars plugged into the main bar, it has modular plug in’s with two tabs on each side of the socket to disengage the bar from the main tube. In addition the LED’s are covered in a glass cover to avoid them being touched and for water proofing.
Each bar has light spreading reflectors rather than lenses. So no light being lost to the sides and upwards. (nice touch)
A closeup of the socket with tabs to disengage the light bars from the main tube. And very nice tall and heavy fins 8 per bar for heat dissipation.
Very nicely packed light bars and they used dense closed cell foam.
The main tube with all the light bar sockets.
Well I was supposed to be somewhere and was going to complete tomorrow but my appointment cancelled. So I unboxed it again and plugged everything together and here is it running. I can tell you it is WAY brighter than the LUXX.
So here is a few shots, the first is the VEG switch on as low as it will go, and BTW they are not notched you can vary them any amount you like. Notice how the reflectors are catching the side light from the diodes and directing it down.
Next is the VEG only on high.
Next is the VEG and FLOWER on high.
Next is the UV far red and veg and flower on high.
Imma gonna tell you this puppy is BRIGHT.
Of course I have no idea of the quality of their service, but I figured i would get one and open it and see if the (apparent) quality was there, and it is. I will post further when I get the time to completely assemble and turn it on. (done)
If anyone was thinking about this light, I thought I would post my observations on it. A thousand watts for $369 is just hard to beat.
Hope you enjoyed my mini and incomplete review.
