We are excited to announce our next AMA (“Ask Me Anything”) on the Growers Network Grow From Home Forum: this week we proudly introduce Brian Gandy from S.A.G.E. Lighting. We will be discussing all things cannabis growing, with a specific focus on LED Grow Lighting, CMH/LEC, HPS, and Vertical Farming techniques. @BG_SAGE has been contributing to the GN Pro Forum, but he has graciously accepted an invitation to host an AMA geared toward our @Hobbyist community.
Who: Brian Gandy of SAGE Lighting
What: Efficient Cultivation Illumination
Where: The GNET public forum
When: Thursday, August 15th, at 11 AM PST
Brian Earned a B.S. in Horticulture in 2008 and has worked in organic agriculture and appropriate technologies since. With nearly a decade of organic vegetable field production and 10 years in Colorado working with cannabis and hemp, he has focused the last 5 years on Horticultural lighting. Working for several start-ups in product research and development, Brian formed SAGE Lighting Solutions in the fall of 2018 to bring unbiased information and specification for LED Horticultural lighting. Combining Sustainable Business concepts and appropriate technologies, SAGE aims to help growers adopt LED successfully through information, procurement and equipment leasing options.

I read an article that said that they believed that light manipulation will be the key to efficient cannabis cultivation in the near future. I’ll tune in faux sho.
As a longtime grower who has been manipulating light spectrum to optimize growth I very much agree with that point. I’ll be interested to hear the opinion of @BG_SAGE on this matter during our AMA.
I’ve had plans for a vertical grow for almost a year now. I plan to build it this coming winter in a new expansion. Would be great to bounce my ideas off someone that has knowledge in that area. I’ve got a reminder in my phone so I don’t forget already set.
I grew up around ag and when I was studying Hort at UGA, I worked in the biorefinery turning algae into biofuels. We started manipulating single celled plants with light in 2008
@imSICKkid welcome. I am always tinkering. I have a couple of boxes of PCBs ready to mount and a few custom builds coming. Keep an eye on our IG page and I’ll be debuting there
I wish we could cross canna and algae! I’m not sure which would be harder to harvest. The funny part about algae is that we were using supercritical CO2 and ethanol extraction methods in the lab a few years before I hear about it for canna
