We are also building on a line of chemical sensors that exists on the same portable, self-powered platform. For example, say you wanted to monitor soil conditions. We take measurements with our sensors and then use edge computing to process the technology in the field itself. That gives you continuous, automated analysis for growing conditions etc.

Glad you asked. All communications are on-board, and in addition to cellular, we can do transmission of data, video, and alerts over RF, Satellite, and WiFi. We deal with a lot of clients in remote areas, so this plethora of options is especially appreciated.

The trajectory seems clear; as legalization spreads and as the medicinal use of marijuana derivatives gains traction within the medical community, recreational and clinical use will continue to skyrocket.

We believe this will imply several things.

  1. Cultivators are going to require a lot more land as demand for product outstrips current supply
  2. With any expensive cash crop, theft and security threats will increase around cultivation, processing and sale
  3. The need for power, especially for industrial sensors, will be huge

That’s why we think we offer a solution with edge computing (Industrial IoT) that eliminates decision-making latency, surveillance and event detection that uses AI to help stop theft in its tracks, and portable power to keep sensors easily operable in the outdoors.

Our ‘unfair’ advantage is that we are a turnkey technology product, not at cobbled together solution. I think this is a great visual representation of our solution.

But more seriously, we address and solve the problem of power and connectivity in outdoor environments; because of our law enforcement bonafides, we also understand the security and regulator viewpoint, and we are able to advise our customers on best practices with this perspective.

Has the fact that jurisdictions differ in their security requirements for grow operations, processing facilities, and dispensaries been a barrier for V5 Systems serving a geographically wide market? Or alternatively, if your systems facilitate compliance with a range of security requirements, have you found that this has been helpful for you from a marketing perspective? Thanks!

Our ideal target market is any market that needs portable, easy-to-deploy power, communications, and security in outdoor environments - our best customers span energy , campuses, hospitals, businesses, sporting venues.

In our opinion, traditional is code for slow and inefficient.

  • Our solutions can be deployed in under 30 minutes. Traditional security can take weeks to months to setup the infrastructure because they need to trench for power and connectivity.

  • Traditional security is hard to scale in the outdoors and is not dynamic because it’s fixed. Our solutions are portable and can be moved to address different hot-spots.

  • Traditional security is expensive. It can take tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars to trench, add communications, and get permits for a quarter of mile of wiring. Our units are orders of magnitude less expensive.

So let’s say you’ve been having a vandalism issue; you don’t know where the soft spot in your perimeter is, but you need security fast. With traditional security, you’re lucky if you’re covered in less than month, and even then, your security is wired and fixed. With us, at a fraction of the price, you get a multi-purpose, portable technology.

That’s not mention our rapid, mobile-drive alerts that come straight to your smart device!

That’s actually a wonderful question and a fun story.

Our solar panels are monocrystalline-silicon based. Traditionally, these panels have high energy density, but they’re heavy and have a rigid form factor. We innovated with our current collection technology, and long-story short, this makes our panels lightweight, more energy-dense, and highly fatigue-resistant.

Because of our redundant current collection, if you shot a bullet at a panel, you’d only take out about 5% of its energy production capabilities. We get a lot of inquiries for people interested in our solar!

This has proven exceptionally useful when it comes to security; the first thing criminals try to take out is means of surveillance; no bullets or golf-balls are taking us down anytime soon. This is another reason why cities, schools, and PDs love us!

There is another advantage for agriculture in states with hard-winters - our panels are rated as hail-resistant, so bad storms won’t take your infrastructure out.

Thank you, we quite agree and we have great customers. In fact, rare in the security industry, our customers are often willing to go on the record to give testimonials and do case studies with us. We believe that trust and customer service are integral to what we do.

Agreed, security is peace of mind, and the permission to do the things that matter without having to check over your shoulder!
