Before You Begin - Wet vs Dry Trimming:
When you trim your cannabis, you’ll have the option of “Wet trimming” or “Dry Trimming.” The steps are nearly identical but wet trimming refers to trimming prior to drying your cannabis, and dry trimming is the opposite, trimming after you’ve dried your cannabis. Some people swear by dry trimming, while others prefer wet trimming. Generally speaking, wet trimming is a bit less labor intensive for beginners as it’s easier to access the sugar leaves with your scissors before the plant loses moisture through drying. If you dry your cannabis prior to trimming, you’ll notice that these sugar leaves shrivel a bit and fold inward which can make them a little more difficult to manipulate. In the end though, it’s completely up to you!

Instructions

  • Step 1: Find a clean space to trim your cannabis. This can be a table, a counter top, a coffee table, etc.
  • Step 2: Make sure you have removed any Fan leaves from your stems.
  • Step 3: Place your trim bin/collection tray on your trimming surface.
  • Step 4: Using your sharp, clean scissors, trim away your sugar leaves from the buds. Hold the buds by their stem if possible to avoid losing trichomes, and use the tips of your scissors to trim these leaves as close to the buds as possible. Make sure to save the sugar leaves! More on that in Step 5.
  • Step 5: Review your work to make sure your buds look nice and clean. Trimming isn’t required to finish your cannabis, but the process will give you nice looking buds similar to what you might see in the dispensary. Additionally, you can use the sugar leaves for extraction, hash, or in a pinch, you can smoke them!
