We got your back⦠it is easier to start with salt based nutrients unless you have time to read⦠then work up from there⦠but the joy is I know my water and never Ph my outdoorā¦no reason⦠and never have a problem⦠when you decide too hit me up we can get you started as well as the other bad ass outdoor growers hereā¦
Well Iām hitting you up now @Ladithief I have been looking at some fabric garden beds to keep on my deck. They are 4 x 8 and 18 inches tall. I figure they can hold maybe 4 plants? What I need to know is can living soil be kept in a fabric bed like that? If so, what do I begin to fill it with?
Give me a bit (I have to pick my bike up from the shop) and I will send you my soil recipe and the watering schedule I usedā¦and you will need 1.75 cubic yards of dirt for that raised bed⦠and yes you can⦠I used to use 35 gallon cloth pots for living soil⦠you will need clover and some some straw⦠what latitude are you at⦠you need them in the ground by the end of June to make a worth while return on investmentā¦
There is 27cubic feet in a cubic yard⦠just remember for you mixing⦠and you need 1.75 cubic yards or approx 48 cubic feetā¦
Once again this is my mix for 410/yd⦠and how to water with only teas and some foliars⦠compare with what they offer for 400/ydā¦
Base soil mix:
1:1:1: CSPM (Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss) : Pumice/Lava rock : Compost - Malibus B/U is an excellent choice if it is available in your area.
Amended per cuF with:
1/2 - 1 cup Neem or Karanja
1/2 - 1 cup Kelp
1/2 - 1 cup Crab/Crustacean meal
1 cup MBP (Malted Barley Powder)
1/2 cup Gypsum (nice sulphur source)
4-6 cups Basalt
6-8 cups Biochar
Small handful of worms per container In beds, lets say 4x8 for example, something like a handful per 2x2 area is more than plenty. Iāve seen quite a number of instances where a very large number of worms are started with and while there is nothing wrong with that I feel it not only detracts from the purpose but is wholly unnecessary as worms will regulate their population in containers so you risk simply a huge waste of money and worms right out the gate. IMO it is better to start with a small amount and allow your mini ecosystem to develop ānaturallyā and soil life will find itās own balance that is most appropriate for any given size body of soil - make sense?
Keep in mind, if you build a soil that at least somewhat resembles the recipe above, the addition of worms (or not) at the beginning will not make one iota of difference. It is in the long term where the benefit of a diverse healthy soil life, including worms, that you will see a benefitā¦ā¦and please please do not skimp on the humus portion of your soil mix, as my good friend Coot has said, āget your humus right, and the rest is like a pleasant drive through the countryside.ā And Iām sure thereās a number of variations on that quote, some not as savory as others! LMAO!!
Hereās an example of a tried and true watering schedule (because I personally used it for years) to use from day 1 to ensure your plants are being pushed to āpeak healthā and expressing their full āgenetic potential.ā:
Day 1 Plain water
Day 2 No watering
Day 3 MBP top-dress watered in with Aloe/Fulvic/Silica (agsil or your silica source of choice)
Day 4 No watering
Day 5 Plain water
Day 6 Neem/Kelp tea
Day 7 No watering
Day 8 Plain water
Day 9 No watering
Day 10 Coconut Water
Day 11 No watering
REPEAT - Beginning to end, no changes needed for various stages of growth, simple enough right
Wow that might be above my knowledge level. That seems very intense.
@beths Iām very new and just learning but from what I get the ratio is dead even with the base media then your going to want to add the amendments which are the kelp, crab, gypsum, salt, neem and biochar⦠Exactly why I love the GO line up I just add as they grow but instead youāre soil has everything thing it needs already mixed in⦠The worms are for air inside the soil they love to burrow⦠But then the water schedule is 11 days every other day no water but except day 5 and 6⦠@ ladithief did I get it right?
Yes @scotty17⦠and really it gets quite simpleā¦you donāt have to go there instantly⦠I started with cover crops and self composting them with straw during flower⦠then made it to the soil and teas last year⦠now I am on a 6 day tea cycle to see how it works⦠if not happy I will go back to that one⦠I just posted because that is basically how you do full no till organic living soil⦠and you did mention itā¦give me another month of my 6 day tea cycle to vouch for it and it is only 2 teas⦠a liquid and a solid teaā¦
Lovely work.
Were nice. Im just breeding right now and cloning. I have way to much weed now. I cant get rid of it fast enough. Both of my 4x4 tents have finished flowering and im harvesting today and reseting and readying the equipment for the breading tent.
breeding tent, fucking breeding tent, now i want a peanut butter & jelly sandwich
ā¦lol⦠a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on a hot day outside or camping is as good as beef tenderloin BBQādā¦lolā¦
P&J is really good on a hot summer day, load them both really heavy, you want it dripping down your arm, kinda like Buffalo wings
and the freshest softest bread possibleā¦and a nice layer of butter on the jelly sideā¦lolā¦
Oh my, you had me going till the ābutterā part, I forgot Canada is like England, you guys put butter on everything.
Yepā¦had to throw all those dots to get over 10⦠then I typed 30 more letters and realized I am highā¦lolā¦
