Phosphorus deficiency usually shows up on the lower older leaves and not the newer growth. Most deficiencies I’ve seen don’t appear on only the top surface of the leaf and are visible from the underside as well.

@treetrunks well it’s one of the things listed as a possibility. As I mention previously, I have the same dark purple on new growth. So far it’s not spreading & I have sprayed it a few times with Lost Coast. The plant itself looks goo d & healthy so I’m not real worried about.
