Why is CO2 a good thing? I know it helps plants metabolize, but its it really worth it? I could just breathe into the tent you know…
Really depends on how much light you have. If you don’t have enough light to use all the co2 that’s naturally produced then a c02 emitter won’t do anything.
Now if you do have a ton of light c02 with do wonders the first few weeks of bloom to help the girls grow and thicken.
Overall it’s one of those things to add when you have everything else dialed in already and have a good product.
If you are running a tent C02 will do you no good. You should be having your air cycling at a minimum of once a minute. By doing that the CO2 is worthless. That is mainly for a sealed Grow room environment not a tent. Just my opinion.
I’ve grown with and without supplemental co2. Like the previous posts, if you have a sealed room, and your grow is dialed in, give it a go @Homey.
But I honestly don’t bother with it anymore. I live in a metropolitan area of Oregon, and the co2 levels are plenty high, for my plants. I get thick solid buds every grow.
I leave the CO2 to the commercial growers who need to squeeze out every bit from the plant.
Probably easier and more enjoyable to just get a BJ in the tent to increase CO2 for home growers.
Like the guys said, you need a controlled environment and high PPFD. You can schedule the emitters to fog when there is zero ventilation (just a small fan pointing over the plants). CO2 rainbath.
If your environmentals are nailed down, CO2 is the next logical step
CO2 is taken up by plant roots and is a key molecule in photosynthesis (CO2 and water are enzymatically converted to glucose (energy!) and oxygen (for us to breathe)). So your babies absolutely do need CO2 for growth…but supplying it in grow tents is beyond my knowledge base, so at least you’re in the right place for others to fill you in on that
You Don’t Want It In Your H2O !!!
I use a 2x4x6 grow box (like a tent) with low volume air exchange. in the box I have placed an empty plastic gallon jug (was iced tea), in the jug I have a pint of room temperature simple syrup and a tablespoon of yeast. From the jug cap with a small hole in it, I ran an air hose to the intake of the air circulation fan. The fan causes the suction of a minute amount of the generated CO2 and blows it over the plants. I have noticed a marked difference in the growth of plants near the fan and not so near (bigger plants closer). The jug gets a refreshed solution every 2 weeks. As a side effect I generate alcohol solution but I dump that down the drain. Probably could distill the alcohol out but way too much trouble for me. Looking into a better distribution system for the CO2, maybe a sort of drip hose for CO2 and pump on the jug.
I agree with you @skindog! Co2 in your h20 is no good for your plants root system. Especially when your growing hydroponicly. Co2 can make your rootzone very acidic if the levels are too high.
Your plant breathes in co2 through its stigmatas on the bottom of it’s leaves.
If you live in a city, and a few people live in your home, you’ll have plenty of co2 for your home grow. That’s my experienced opinion.
I keep the CO2 levels between 950 and 1300ppm
All air drawn in thru air pumps, comes from outside.
You can always consider monitoring CO2 levels to ensure air flow is sufficient to maintain proper CO2 levels. Something like:

Thanx @rich_rod, Do you have a good CO2 meter to recommend?
