This is the planter we use on my current farm. A John Deere CCS which has computerized monitoring of seed placement and density. Hopefully we will be using it in the near future to plant hundreds of acres of Cannabis Sativa L, aka Industrial Hemp.
most of not all commercial cannabis growers wont be using seed. obviously due to sex. most will be contacting a local farm and buying thousands of clones. time is short. seeds take a lot longer.
Commercial cannabis cultivation is already into tissue culture and micro-propagation. Repeatable results (and micro-prop is one of the key separators) are what will set apart successful commercial operations from failures. Best be HAACP and GMP certified soon, or get left behind.
If you are using a machine like this to plant hemp or canna seeds, your doing it wrong and are not going to have good success.
2 Hemp farms on the E coast both told me in 2018 they gota zip, nothing. 10 and 20 acres of noda!
Not even seeed. They planted their expensive feminized seeds with a seeding machine and treated the hemp like corn. They said it was a wet season? Mother Nature’s fault and got nothing.
You control your own success!
Start your seeds in controlled environment 1st. Get them sexed and rooted 1st.
There are machines now that will plant 12" rooted plants, lay drip line, mulch, water, feed, and cover the hole instead of seeders. 1 acre per hour seedlings in the ground. PM me for quotes.
Seriously, do not treat hemp like corn!

This is what we use to plant feminized plants from regular seeds. Work in your PJ’s and transplant your 10 or 20 farm in 1 or 2 days.
Absolutely no way for commercial grow start you seeds in paper towel!
Ok for a few seeds but no way for a pound or pounds of seed.
1 pound of seed is about 27K seeds.
1 pound is enough for 10 acres with a large hemp bred for oil.
What commercial farm has the time to take tweezers and transplant then into plugs and hope that takes while contaminating.
Pro Tip. Drop your seeds in the plug and cover with vermiculite. Water from the bottom or by Ebb and Flow. We water our seedlings from the bottom. Much easier with pumps, timers, flood tables.
