DIRECTOR of HORTICULTURE oversees the establishment, development, and implementation of the Company’s horticultural operations, quality standards, personnel, science, and compliance internationally.

Here’s an opportunity to be part of the technical leadership team of a global cannabis company. In this role, you will develop and implement a cannabis horticultural production & breeding program principled upon sustainable & ethical practices and high-quality standards, while maintaining cost-competitiveness. You will expand our horticultural program into various international markets (South America, Europe, Africa, and North America) by pursuing licensing opportunities and adapting our horticultural principles to suit respective climates, cultures, and regulatory structures.
You will work closely with your technical team, which includes the Director of Processing and the company President. You will oversee all cannabis horticultural operations and personnel internationally. Your team will be international and non-centralized, so there’s no need for you to re-locate if you have a reliable high-speed internet connection and are close to an international airport.
Your background should include at least a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Botany, or similar, with five years of experience in cannabis horticulture. You should have executive experience and feel as comfortable working in a boardroom as you do in a greenhouse.
Responsibilities:

Oversight & direction of the company’s cannabis cultivation, pest/disease management, post-harvest processing, research, and other activities of the company related to horticultural science

Implement and develop horticultural program goals, values, and direction established by President

Develop, promulgate, and uphold standards and practices of the company, including those for sustainability, organics, GAP, GHP, GMP, and productivity.

Horticulturally-related sections of license applications

Development of new cultivars and horticultural practices

Oversight and training of the company’s horticultural staff

Overseeing budgets, strategic planning, and capital projects related to horticultural activities of the company

Representation and promotion of the company’s Horticulture Department and products

Ensuring policies and written procedures are adequate for the operation of the horticultural operations and meet regulatory & certification requirements

Government relations

Qualifications:

Baccalaureate or higher in Horticulture, Botany, Agriculture, or related

Five years of experience in cannabis horticulture

Five years of supervisory experience

Experience in horticultural record-keeping

Valid Driver’s License

Valid passport and ability to travel internationally without unusual restriction

Management Expectations:

- Six-month initial consulting contract with possibility of renewal or employment, dependent upon performance
