Director of Processing w/ Global Cannabis Company

DIRECTOR of PROCESSING oversees the establishment, development, and implementation of the Company’s extraction, refinement, processing, and finished product manufacturing operations, quality standards, personnel, science, and compliance internationally.

Here’s an opportunity to be part of the technical leadership team of a global cannabis company. In this role, you will develop and implement a cannabis processing program principled upon sustainable & ethical practices and high-quality standards, while maintaining cost-competitiveness. You will expand our processing program into various international markets (South America, Europe, Africa, and North America) by pursuing licensing opportunities and adapting our processing principles to suit respective markets, cultures, and regulatory structures.

You will work closely with your technical team, which includes the Director of Horticulture and the company President. You will oversee all cannabis processing operations and personnel internationally. Your team will be international and non-centralized, so there’s no need for you to re-locate if you have a reliable high-speed internet connection and are close to an international airport.

Your background should include at least a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or similar, with five years of experience in cannabis processing. You should have executive experience and feel as comfortable working in a boardroom as you do in a lab.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and direction of the company’s cannabis extraction, refinement, processing, and finished product manufacturing, and other activities of the company related to chemistry and manufacturing processes.

  • Implement and develop processing program goals, values, and direction established by President

  • Develop, promulgate, and uphold standards and practices of the company, including those for sustainability, organics, GAP, GHP, GMP, and productivity.

  • Development of new products and processes

  • Processing-related sections of license applications

  • Oversight and training of the company’s processing staff

  • Overseeing budgets, strategic planning, and capital projects related to processing activities of the company

  • Representation and promotion of the company’s Processing Department & products

  • Ensuring policies and written procedures are adequate for the operation of the processing operations and meet regulatory & certification requirements

  • Government relations

  • Other duties & responsibilities assigned by President

Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate or higher in chemistry, biochemistry or related degree

  • Five years of experience in cannabis processing

  • Five years of supervisory experience

  • Experience in scientific or production record-keeping

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally without unusual restriction

  • Clean criminal record

  • Reading, writing, and presenting reports, scientific journal articles, business correspondence, and written procedures

Management Expectations:

  • Technical Leadership Team is international and non-centralized, so re-location is not necessary if you have a reliable high-speed internet connection and are nearby an international airport.
  • Full-time
  • Six-month initial consulting contract with possibility of renewal or employment, dependent upon performance

Relationships:

  • Reports to President
  • Coordinates post-harvest processing with Director of Horticulture
  • Collaboration with other directors, executives, managers, and personnel
  • Oversees technical activities of processing personnel, who may be based in different countries, and who are directly overseen by a Country Manager.
