Femanizing pollen and seeds. And an STS how to!

@PreyBird1 so now I get why you have so many tents  think I need another asap.

Getting ready to start a couple crosses. Pretty sure im starting with Tora Bora x cider kush. Need to make seeds for both though for a proper pheno hunt. I’m assuming it best to just put a male and fem together in the tent and let them do their thing? Kinda a dumb basic question but gotta start somewhere :v::call_me_hand:

Well i like to time it where the male is flowered after the female has already begun flowering. Ill clone a male so i can get the timing perfect. And throw out the rest And it really depends on what your end goals are in the production of seed. Are you going to open air pollinate? Target pollinate? What kind of room/space do you have set aside? There’s pros and cons. You can do hand pollinating. Move fans into place to blow pollen onto plants. Simulate open air pollination by blowing pollen into the tent using a trick i have then the fan takes over. Males are tricky there pre-flowers will pollinate as they mature long before its male main flowers show up. Its best to pluck those off asap! If your veg storing a Male.

Welcome to a huge Rabbit Hole!

I was thinking of open air. But I got a small 3x3 tent I was going to start in. I’ve only got 12 regs of each. Figured I could find a breeding pair and just want to reproduce as many of the same seeds as possible. Sounds lie there are options?

Yes small batches of seeds. Or large batches of seeds. Tricks to the trade

Ok update folks. I have 5 of the 8 strains. Completed now. Im just letting them become the best seeds they can be. I always let them go until they almost eat all the fan leaves.

Edit: these are pre-flower seeds and a couple buds seeds.

Can you explain this further for the slow kids in the back  you get seeds in pre flower??

Yes if you have a male it can pollinate in pre flower. before the flower clusters even grow. So the female has those opposite pre-flowers well they can be pollinated wayyy before the plant grows it’s full on seeds. I always take these and put them in a stash. So i go around with long tweezers and take these seeds to check the quality

One of my Runtz. :+1::face_with_monocle:. I dont let anyone have those seeds. But the crosses i do share. I cloned all of these and i also have my femmanized pollen. I can make more of all of the strains. I have white caviar x white Runtz that’s amazing smelling. Like sweet candy limes then kind of skunky and dank like. Cant wait to grow the prodigy!

Care to share a bit more on the curing process. I’m in sponge mode, just soaking it all up.:v::call_me_hand:

Yes when i cure the seeds they need 3 weeks. But i cut the plants down. And hang them in 25% humidity. And i feel the plants send the remaining nutrients and moisture into the seeds as they are drying out. But the seeds need to cure so they can “dry” if a seed is to wet when its new and you plant it 9/10 times it turns to mush and fails to germinate. Ive tested under developed immature seeds. Ive tesed the minimum required time needed for a viable seed. Ive tested growth times between more immature seeds to finished seed. Yields are the same but what’s affected is seed vigor/speed that it starts out at. Its a 7-10 day difference in growth time. Also this makes the plant grow longer outdoor. But the same grow time indoor because of controlled light times and not natural light getting shorter and the season ends.
