Good evening. First time grower! My deelite auto if flowering and I am worried I may have too many bud sites. And should I defoliate? 12 days into flower.
Welcome to the forum!
Thanks. Happy to be here!
Nice pictures. I would say do a light defoliation, however Auto’s hermie under stress, so I wouldn’t try it myself. @Slym3r @happilyretired might give you better advice! I have never had any luck growing Auto’s or they will tag someone with experience.
Here I fixed your pictures.
I don’t know. I don’t grow to many auto flowers because I don’t have much luck with them. I’ve never grown one that looked as good as that. As long as you have a fan blowing in the bottom of that thing I’d let it go. If the center of the plant is really clogged up with leaves and small buds you might want to be selective and pull a few. Beautiful work. I know the camera thing it’s a bitch but if you turn your phone sideways to take the pictures most of the time they turn out correct. Just so you know.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Good looking plants!
So far I have done two mild defoliations. Nothing like what you’d see as seeing the underbits of most. Just wondering if I should do it now so the under bud sites get more light. Seems like I’m infested with bud sites.
I seriously do not know. I am going to tag some people here to see if they can help you out. @blackthumbbetty @sdgreene @not2sureyet @screwauger I have seen them respond to questions about Auto’s in the past, if they’re still on the forum.
I’m not sure if this is a good idea or not but if your trying to get more light into the center of the plant without stressing them I would get some binder clamps put them on the pots and gently move the branches around and tie them to the binder clamps attached to the pots you’re growing in. However stressing an Auto at this point might screw up your harvest and I really don’t want to feel guilty about screwing up your plants that are that good looking. The only Auto I was able to grow to harvest only got 8 inches tall and had 1 bud that weighed 2 grams after harvest and drying, the other 9 died or hermied on me.
ThAts a great idea. As long as I don’t stress the stem of the branch I guess we will be ok.
Seriously growing Auto’s is an art form that eludes me! Looking at your plants shows you doing everything right so far!
Keep posting updates with pictures, because I would really like to see how this ends! At least I want it to be a happy ending!
Just defoliate some of those fatty leaves
Not all of them, but the lower fatty leaves you can take off. Work slowly, maybe only a few a day until you feel you have opened up enough light.
You want light to be able to reach any bud you want to grow
Great suggestion!
And relax. If you are not having fun you are doing it wrong
Great suggestion
yes welcome to the forum and although I haven’t had the pleasure of growing autos I think what you have done looks great.
I think just do what has been suggested with light defoliating the lower aspects. good effort and good luck with finish.
how long is the expected flowering?
Your girls are looking great. I’m with @Skinnyhb . Won’t hurt to take off a handful of big fan leaves that are blocking light and air flow.
I grow mostly autos. I tuck leaves out of the way when possible, but sometimes defoliating is a must. At this point your girls have enough leaves that they won’t really miss a few. You just don’t want to take too many off at once and freak them out. I would start with inner fan leaves that are blocking light and air flow.
