Flowering trim

Hey folks. Do I have to cut those lower leaves that don’t see the light? Or maybe the plant needs them also?

You can cut them, if you don’t think that they will produce much of anything, they can go.

The generalized idea by some is that the plant has a finite amount of energy and with each physical location of your plant there is a loss of energy. if the leaves in question see no light, they are like little nodes of energy use with no benefit any longer.

what should also be considered is that perhaps in cutting too much you may shock them. sometimes plants can react negatively to pruning, or too much pruning.

Everything looks beautiful however, you appear to know what you are doing, now just play the patience game and try to not harvest too early.

hi @hazehazehaze

Looking good, and you have already trimmed below the canopy, looking clean and tidy. Plant is looking happy and healthy. What is the shriveled up red plant to the left?

Hi @Skinnyhb , welcome to GN and great advice.

You might wanna pull out that house plant. Some times they have bugs riding on them. I bring in my home Depot plants ma d they are always riddled with mites.

The trim is an interesting topic. You remove for space, cleanliness (molds and rots). Energy usage is widely discussed . This is what I’ve found.

This explains the reds in our lighting.

This shows you what happens in nature with light that goes thru a leaf. It creates a very high red. Which promotes growth.

Appreciate

Thank you. The plant on the left is called Celosia argentea. Unfortunately the plant died because of temperature fluctuations… It was too late to put it into my grow tent. Couldn’t survive.

I have removed that plant already. Thanks for your help. I am new to growing and learning a lot of new things. I’ve been looking for some information about defoliation and feeding and found out a lot of growers have different approaches. Just trying to stick to what I feel will be the best for my plants!
