Grow Box idea to save my wallet

My solution to not affording a tent, whilst also providing myself the project to keep my mind busy. WTF is that you may ask?

Behold GrizzGrowBox

Just PVC pipe frame with foam board inserts with silver side to reflect light. As you have all mentioned don’t skimp on light I have selected a VivoSun one after some reviews and scouring the interwebs of madness.

This brings the total build to less than $340 AUD. One month’s pay on frame build and a fun project. Then next month light and off to the races.

Fan you need a fan you might be saying, alas I already have one that was going to be used in the green house, will use it in the box instead.

Thoughts?

Morning @grizzlyhigh

A man with a plan. Love it. What are the silver sides you putting in, maybe buying some proper reflective mylar is a good idea, its cheap. So you have an oscillating fan for the inside? You will need a passive air intake at the bottom, and something to extract the hot air above the light. What are your suggestions Mr resourceful tent city, @PreyBird1 , any ideas @wow_arizona ?

Another good idea is to eat the banana on the table before it goes off.

I think it is excellent! Air movement is critical so the fan is essential.

I was thinking about this and was going to scour Amazon for a computer fan but with plug. Have it pull the hot air out, was thinking some other vent from local hardware for the bottom for fresh air

There are statistics you need to work within, and will help in the long run, especially with your heat changes in Auz. I just used chatgpt.com for information and came back with alot of calculations. I would suggest using that platform to work things out, and feel free to post your solutions here.

To calculate passive air intake and active exhaust (outflow) for a grow box, you need to work through it in this order:

  1. Calculate grow box volume
  2. Determine required air exchanges per minute
  3. Convert to required exhaust fan CFM (or mÂł/h)
  4. Size passive intake vents correctly

Why not use a closet/small room?

I only use 2 fans one for air movement and one to send air out and the air out is above the light and and leave the lower vents open on the tent for fresh air to come up from the bottom. The air on tje floor is 7° colder so youbwant it cycling out up hight and sucking in the colder air from the floor. If i need more air i leave the fron tent door bttom zipper unzipped and it give me a 4f slit air can go in.

Connecting 2 wires to a 12v adapter is out of the question? Do they sell crimp on electrical connectors in your area?

Its going in a cupboard, the box was to keep it more discreet for when my daughters have friends over etc its not just a plant in the cupboard next to the lounge room.

Its also because I like projects as it keeps my mind busy and stops me going through a negative bullshit montage.

Thirdly, it got my wife Intrigued and now she is all aboard to help make it. That’s a massive bonus in my books

No, just never actually done any wiring like that. Was avoiding adding in an extra space for problems or issues where possible

A fan is a great place to start.

Its too bad you can’t present cannabis as something ok, and not be ashamed of. But situations. Its good there is many positives as well. Sharing the activity will be awesome! I can smell the fresh leaves already. Its so real.

Super nice job on both of those.

Im about to plant some basil. Here it repels aphids, and who knows what else. I need to plant some mint, and marigolds. I keep them close to the cannabis. Its good for their plant intelligence and repels stuff.

Lol yep. Well that and i came from nothing. Piss poor we made everything by hand or we grew it or we fabricated/built something from other items. Mom was a seamstress and could make anything. I used to make dental chairs with my mom. We ran a an upholstry dept for a medical comapny making dentist chairs and stools. When you dont have money but you have knowledge you can create things and make it work with what you can get or have on hand. My dad was always trying to make his own sleds. One time he made a sled with skis and no way to steer it?? Hr was convinced he could lean and steer it. Man i have never seen the old man go that fast on a sled! Straight as fuck lean and steer my ass lol he was like a kiwi on rocket. We went way up on a mountain we lost sight of him in like 2 seconds flat. He went downnnnnnn and gone.

I wasn’t poor but not nearly as rich as I thought I was, my folks struggled. But definitely weren’t as self sufficient as they could have been. I am trying to do the opposite and get back to simple. Be more handy and think useful things through.

Your dad sounds like a riot. Fuck around and find out at is peak with that sled run.:laughing:. Reminds me of my old man not wanting to wait in line on the “advanced track” on a toboggan track, so went to the “beginner track” to have fun now, went too fast and flipped over on himself and cracked several ribs. That was the last day I saw my dad take any physical risks just for fun.

Lol my old man didnt Fuck around. He was a crazy old bastard. He got us in trouble a lot. Hell i still remember when i was like maybe 6yrs old. And dad came home with some water ballons! Wow we had never seen water ballons before they were magical to us little kids. And dad took out the kiddy pool and filled it with water and then we made all the water ballons. And dad had us put the ballons in the pool one by one as we filled them from the hose right ther on the front of the house. And the front was up on a hill and the street was down the hill and 65 stairs. So then dad showed us how to throw them down the hill. Lol was fun then he showed us how to throw them at cars! Yep threw one on stuck up BMW driver in a convertible! Yeah that didnt end well. That guy came up there so fast. And me and my older brother were standing there in our tighty whitey underwear going wyf? As this guys yelling at my dad. Old Dad was a boxer and could fight really well. So dad just talked the guy down lucky for the guy. Because he would have been hurt badly. But we were throwing water ballons. So we were wrong but it was just fun for us throwing water ballons it was fun times. When we got older we would go throw snowballs at cars driving down the street. Most people avoided the street we lived on because it was wicked steep and seriously dangerous to drive down in the winter time. And if you dared to drive down it we’d bomb your car with snowballs. I have six brothers and we would usually be sledding down the sidewalk because nobody shoveled the walks and you could fly down the street on the side walk on a sled or sleigh or tobogán. Some snowball figts, some sledding, and snowballing cars were good times in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Wed bomb cars untill the cops showed up and then we would bomb the cops and then all run away. So figure this 7 boys and usually a freind or 2 for each brother. We had anywhere from like 14-23 kids sledding and throwing snow. We snowballed everyone even ourselves.

I’m 80s to 90s, but miss those times. You could get away with having fun like that. Nowadays you’ll get sued and all sorts of nonsense. Everyone got some uptight haha.

Take me back. Someone needs to create a chemovar :winking_face_with_tongue:called Time Machine so we can all go back

Lol a chemovar ahahaha. Thats great man. Thanx for the laugh.
