Help ID please Orangish tiny shell found on petiole

Hello All,

Need some help identifying a possible critter that I’ve not seen yet.

It is very tiny, looks like a “kind of hard” shell, which something might have crawled out of, but also
kind of look as a fungi. So small it is hard to tell and we didn’t want to test it’s “solidity” yet.

What ever crawled out of it was not seen (yet). There are Thrips controlled almost to extinction with amblyseius cucumeris. A few adult gnats once in a while, but nothing else has been seen and neither of those three usually make those kind of structure.

There was only one found, yet, on ± 80 plants, yet the grower has not begun a more intense scouting mission.

Thank you very much and any ideas welcomed!!

Eric
