Ive got a HM digital com-100 tds/ec/temp meter. I calibrated it by making 2 solutions( 1gram salt per liter water and one 0.5 grams salt per liter)to dial it in. Its not giving me a reading on my run off at all, but works just fine in the solution and in regular water. anyone have any suggestions before I go get another one?
@hmdigital may be able to help here
Try and drain your entire runoff into sterile bucket and then test or let soil sit in water and then strain with a screen the soil out and try testing that way also. Hope this helps
This is what Im working with, its pretty clear and free of debris.
I seem to get flash readings when I pull it out, but that’s not ideal
so you get a reading in your nutrients solution but not your run off water? correct?
Either tester is bad or the tester needs a good deep clean and soak. It looks like you have a potent runoff. and are getting temp readings? try stirring it around for a few seconds in the solution.
I only got a reading on my calibration solution and reg tap water, nothing from nutrients or the run off.
I had a suspicion the room was getting over fed, going to do a flush for the heck of it.
Its an old meter that has been sitting in a box, someone lost our newer one…
What do you recommend cleaning the meter with?
let the tip soak in distilled water for 4 hours or so and repeat stirring occasionally. then calibrate it with calibration solution. if that doesn’t work your meter is no good or has a corroded connection.
