Here is a close look at the Barrel Blades and how they work with both Barrels when the plant material being processed.
The Barrel Blades are positioned on the underside of and between the Barrels. The Right Barrel rotates clockwise, while the Left Barrel rotates counter-clockwise.
The Barrels counter rotation is because if the barrels travel against themselves the material rotates into the cutting zone for the reel blades to trim. By having the Barrels counter-rotate, only ONE Reel Blade is required for both Barrels. That is also why we don’t have the reel cutter at the bottom of the Barrels. Material will naturally be pulled up to the Barrel inside wall toward the center of the machine as they turn in opposite directions and that is where we have placed the cutting reel.
Our machines are all designed to use this natural tumbling force to get the best trim possible.
Would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
Does your double barrel machines trim Hemp flowers too?
Are there any @growopowners or @mastergrowers / hemp farmers here that use trimming machines for your flowers? Do you guys prefer hand trimming your hemp flowers or do you have experience with trimming machines?
Have you had any clients express concerns of what they didn’t want to happen to their flowers using machines? Do you have clients who have expressed the benefits of using your machines for their hemp or cannabis flowers?
We have had a few clients over the years concerned about the flowers getting eaten up by the machines. But in reality that will not happen unless the machines are improperly used. In both hemp and cannabis flowers we have had many Zoom owners and users express their happiness in the quality of trimming. Some of our hemp clients will only require a rough trim for extraction and can process very high volumes of material quickly while other cannabis growers may want a close trim and a high THC level.
I think the biggest fear for cannabis growers is maintaining a high THC level. We have seen many lab test results trimmed by Zoom’s with THC levels from the low 20’s to the mid 30’s so I know this does not destroy the THC. Ideally the best is hand trimming but this is not practical for Hemp or cannabis on a medium to large scale and material pricing is extremely competitive.
