I’m trying to make 20 100 mg gummies how much coconut oil to how much concentrate
Hi @iballtoba5
Welcome to GN.
To determine the strength of your gummies, you need to know the total THC (or CBD) content in the batch and the number of gummies, then divide the total by the number of gummies to find the milligrams per gummy.
Here’s a breakdown of the process:
- Determine the Total THC/CBD Content:
- If using pre-made cannabis oil/infusion:
Multiply the THC/CBD concentration (mg/g) of the infused ingredient by the total grams of the infused ingredient.
-
Example: If you use 20 teaspoons of coconut oil infused with 23.3mg THC per teaspoon, you have 20 * 23.3 = 467mg of THC in the batch.
-
If using cannabis flower:
Multiply the weight of the flower (in grams) by the THC/CBD percentage to get the total milligrams of THC/CBD.
- Example: If you have 2 grams of flower with 15% THC, you have 2 * 15 = 300mg of THC.
- Count the Number of Gummies:
- Determine how many gummies you made in total.
- Calculate Milligrams Per Gummy:
- Divide the total THC/CBD content (in milligrams) by the number of gummies.
- Example: If you have 467mg of THC in a batch of 10 gummies, each gummy contains 467 / 10 = 46.7mg of THC.
Tips for Accurate Dosing:
- Use a reliable calculator:
There are online calculators that can help you determine the correct dosage.
- Start with a low dose:
When trying edibles, start with a small amount and wait for the effects to kick in before taking more.
- Be mindful of your tolerance:
Your body’s metabolism and tolerance can affect how you react to THC/CBD.
- Store edibles properly:
Keep them out of reach of children and pets, and store them in a cool, dark place
Thats impossible to determine without testing. You have to know how strong the weed is first. Then once you make it youd have to test it. Also gummies are 1/3 as potent using coconut oil or mtc oil. Alcohol tincture is the strongest but can be bitter tasting in the end due to the reduction of alcohol process.
Found this on facebook, might help some people when making gummies
Some tips om making the best gummies on the market
Recipe included…!!!
After seeing so much crying over the quality, potency and price of gummies people buy locally, I’ve decided to share our recipe and method which I deem to be some of the best I’ve tasted as yet (all credit to my dearest wife) and each batch comes out perfect every single time.
I will add a YouTube link in the comment section for the actual recipe we follow.
Tips, do’s and don’ts
First off, using Checkers instant jelly does not cut it! Please don’t use it!!! It’s gagga, it has no consistency and melts just by hearing the warm weather report!
Use proper concentrate/ distilled
Don’t be a cheapskate! What ever concentrate you decide on using…it shouldn’t be your crappy leftovers. If you’re not willing to smoke it, don’t put it in your vokkin gummies
Decarb low and slow!
This one is quite important. Your decarb method will have a direct impact on the end flavour and potency. There’s a silly rule of thumb that you should decarb for 1:30 up to 2 hours. Although this is good for the activation, it leaves a horrible taste in the end product.
I like to use a double boiler method set at around 70 to 80 degrees celcuis for at least 24 hours in a sealed glass jar. You’ll notice the little bubbles stop coming up when ready.
Note: Do not open the jar until tincture has cooled down to room temperature. Opening the lid before that will result in loss of terpenes. You want to reserve as much of the terps as possible!
As for the infusion…
I know most people don’t have access to a THC potency tester, no stress I got ya
I use a TCheck potency tester, not the best but certainly does the job.
A rough estimate will leave you at around 2ml (decarbed tincture) per 100ml gummie mixture. My gummies take about 8ml of gummie mixture and comes in around 20 to 25mg per gummy on average. This will obviously vary depending on cultivar. You can use the above as a baseline and work it from there.
Flavour and colouring:
You can play around with this all you want, the sky is the limit. With hundreds of flavours to choose from you can just let your imagination take over. Fruity flavours are probably the safest to go. Alcohol flavours are also quite popular, you can even do layers of for example “Brandy & Cola” or “Gin & Tonic etc… You get the idea. That being said, be careful not to add too much of anything, this could temper with the gummy consistency, which could results in a slower drying period, which opens a larger window for mould to infest.
Lastly, make sure you leave the gummies in a clean environment to dry. We keep them in the fridge for 24 hours before leaving out to dry in a very clean room with no airflow and keep the humidity low if possible (to avoid mould showing up later)
Think I’ve covered most of it… please let me know if this recipe works for you and if you have any tips for me to improve, I’m open for it
Gummie Recipe
For 20 gummies at 100 mg each, you’ll need to check how strong your concentrate is. A common starting point is about 1 cup of coconut oil per gram of concentrate, but you might need to tweak that a bit.
I agree. You’ll need 2000 mg of THC total for 20 gummies at 100 mg each. If your concentrate is 80% THC, that’s roughly 2.5 grams. A typical infusion might use 1/2 cup of coconut oil. Decarboxylate your concentrate, infuse it into the oil, and then mix it evenly into your gummy recipe to achieve your desired potency.
For 100mg gummies, you’ll want to start by deciding how potent your concentrate is. If you’re using a concentrate like distillate (around 90% THC), for 20 gummies at 100mg each, you’d need 2g of concentrate (2000mg). As for coconut oil, you typically want to use about 1/2 to 1 cup of oil for that amount of concentrate. Mix it well, and then incorporate into your gummy recipe.
When i make gummies i tend to make them too strong! I ate one like nothing. My neighbor said he had the Rosin sweats! Said his neck was sweating on the back really bad and his ears were ringing. I just laughed and said i warned you. There is 32 grams of flower made into a tincture using a magic butter machine on an 8hr tincture setting. Then i take 2 cups of that and reduce it on an electric hot plate! Then take that reduction and add it to my gummie mix. Makes some potent gummies. Or i make canna butter and make banna bread.
I make 4 sticks of butter out of 28g or Oz of flower. I do a 4 hour cycle in the butter machine and then press the plant pulp through the filter press. Refrigerate the canna butter and now you can make all kinds of things to eat and get high on at the same time. Then smoke a moonrock! Ha to the moon baby!
