Hello Friends,
I’m trying to wrap my head around calculating the total square footage of cannabis zoned industrial space that operators will demand in California in the next five years.
Any ideas? Estimations?
I’m thinking anywhere around 15-20 Million.

Hi Fernnado,
the first step would be to evaluate the quantity of dried flowers that can be produced per square foot. Our assumption is 200g per sqf/year.
-
Given that the cannbis industrie in California could grow to approx. $7 Billion. (see thecannabist)
-
And that the primary market (sales of dried flowers) will be at least 60% (see European cannabis report)
-
And that an average price of dried flowers could be $10/g
We think that 2.1 Mio sqf of net cultivation space would be needed! (Don’t forget to think about vertical farming approaches)
cheers Christoph
