How to retain terpene strength when de-carbing

I was wondering if anyone has a good way to de-carb, while not losing the terpenes?
Maybe in a mason jar?
thanks jim

I wrap my container in tin foil and take it off only after everything’s cooled down… I read that in a cookbook… can’t remember which one though…

Yes a mason jar works great! Also cuts down on the smell while you decarb.

Any danger of blowing up? Guess make sure it’s dry or leave cap loose. Or cool down slow? Thanks for your input

I just put loose ground up bud in the mason jars and tighten the lid. Once tighten I back it off just a little bit then place in the oven for the amount of time you want to decarb. Once done just let it fully cool down.

Vacuum sealed in a food saver plastic bag works very well.
Then boil it for 2 hours. Water boils at 212° and it doesn’t get any hotter. Very well controlled, and completely sealed. I prefer this way when preserving terpenes as much as possible.
Mason jar is my other favorite, with the lid on. You can even use the food saver to put a vacuum on the mason jar. That helps too.

Decarbing releases moisture i thought. Wouldn’t a closed container pop with the release? I have always done 215 in the oven and stir a few times. But, i don’t know if that’s the right way, just what i have learned.

I’ve always decarbed in mason jars in my oven! Works great to keep all your terpenes in, and the smell contained. There is a little pressure build up, but it releases when you open the jar.

So, in a jar in the oven at like 220 right? I would like to save some of that flavor.

I just imagined the jar braking.

Will try it though, thanks.
