Hydrogen peroxide

Hey I’m a new grower about to start my second batch was thinking of adding a hydrogen peroxide/ water mix to the feeding routine just curious if it will interfere in some way with any other nutrients an how often i should give it. Was thinking of doing a root drench 3 to 1 water hp… i think you can put it in as a leaf misting also if it’s diluted enough but idk was hoping someone could give there input and advice

Going to be growing in a 70 30 coco perlite mix pre buffered
1 and 2 g fabric pots
For nutes i use Vivosun base a and b Calimagic, RQS easy bloom for when in flower and RQS EZ roots (seaweed blend) as a root drench

Hi @greenbtree

Hp is an important preventative solution to many issues we face as growers. I think your 3 to 1 ratio is way to much, an article I found suggested:

  • Standard and Warm Water Tank H2O2 Application - add 5 ml of H2O2 per gallon of H20
  • For maintenance, add 2.5 ml h202 per gallon of H2O.

Although you are using coco perlite you dont wont to overdue HP anyway. Are you using an beneficial microbes, root inoculants, because hydrogen could have a negative effect on this.

I’m just using rhizoblend for roots… so maybe just start it with like 2.5ml per gallon when I’m feeding ? See how it goes from there, you think it will be more negative than positive with the rhizoblend?

HP is fine for helping to germinate seeds, and will help keep a hydro system from growing pathogens.

However and this is just my personal opinion, I would NOT use it in feed water in either Coco, or in Sphagnum moss soil bases like HP pro. It will pretty much kill anything in your soil including all the good microbes you want to have in the soil and that you pay for when you add them.

Unless you have a pathogen that is giving you problems don’t try to kill something you don’t yet have.

Hydrogen peroxide can be a solid addition for root health and preventing rot. The 3:1 water-to-peroxide mix works great as a root drench, but I wouldn’t overdo it, maybe every couple of weeks. For leaf misting, go with a more diluted mix, like 10:1, and just test it on a couple of plants first to make sure they’re cool with it. It shouldn’t mess with your nutrients as long as you’re not using it all the time.

Cool that’s essentially what i found when i researched it. I just really like seeing what all the pro growers have to say about something before i try it. I was a bit hessistant but i think I’ll try it on just one plant see how that grow goes
