I have already started a grow journal but I want to formally introduce myself!
My name is Jaz and I have been roaming the world for 28 years. I reside in warm Phoenix, Arizona. Been learning how to grow for a while, mostly heat tolerant veggies and fruits since the summers here can get pretty brutal. When there is a will, there is a way, however, because its not impossible to grow here. I am new to growing my own cannabis and am here to learn! Feels like I stumbled upon a gold mine with this forum, because its so diverse with a lot of insight for newbies.
Grew up with all types agriculture around me. My dad is from a farm taking care of a sugar cane fields with lots of livestock. My mother and all her (nine) sisters have the greenest thumbs and care for all kind of plants - from succulents, to fruit trees, and even exotic plants. One of my uncles grew weed in his trailer, but as a kid we never spoke about it because my family leans toward the conservative side. Never really took interest until I got older and moved out. Now all types of gardening makes me feel like I am reconnecting not only with my family, but with my roots as well. From what I know, we come from Mayan ancestry and they were growing marijuana for many different reasons.
Currently, I work for GrowersHouse Phoenix! It’s a locally owned hydro/gardening supply shop and also online retailer (www.growershouse.com). If you are in the area come check out our new shop on 35th Ave and Osborn. I really love working here because in the short time I have been here I feel like I’ve grown exponentially as grower with all the resources they supply. Also, its been really cool to meet the Arizona growing community - we have to get creative living in such a dry and hot climate and its so cool seeing what people come up with to beat the heat.
I’m excited to continue learning and connecting with growers, not just in AZ, but all around the globe. Happy growing, friends~ Thanks for reading!
There are a couple of Arizona growers here doing extremely well… I’m sure @wow_arizona will be more than happy to welcome you when he gets the chance !

Hi Jaz,
Welcome to the community, I am also new here but you have a leg up as you have already started a grow and journal good luck and will be checking in to learn a thing or 2 before I get started
@ceez654 You picked the right place for it. This place is full of excellent growers that have experience with multiple growing medias, nutrients, insect pests, genetics, you name it !
I always like to suggest to newcomers that they utilize the magnifying glass at the top of the page to search their selected interests. Will give you a TREMENDOUS amount of information. It’s always better to search first before asking redundant questions that have been answered many times before. Also by searching you will find interesting posts and be able to contact the authors by either clicking on their round logo (PM’s) or just put a @ ahead of their handles to ask more specific questions.
Just consider these guys and girls are fairly busy and they’ll get back to you at their convenience !
Good luck in your adventure and if you’re new you should have hours of reading In the ‘University’ subject at the top of the page !
Appreciate the kind words and will take your advice and do some information hunting via the magnifying glass and see which rabbit hole I end up in on my path to greener plants!!
Thanks
That is the plan, we’ll not really trying to F things up but it’s all part of the learning curve right just waiting to get all my shit together to start giving it a go!!
