L.e.d. build #4 HLG 6× 288 Rspec quantum boards

Ok here is another light i just built. I had some Quantum boards that were not being used and some 90° aluminum Angle pieces.
So here what i have.

  1. 6x Hlg 288 qh Rspec boards.

  2. 2x Meanwell Hlg-320H-C1750A and AB model there the same except model but one has a ln external potentiometer/dimmer knob. The other one needs a screwdriver to dim it. Which i dont like but it functions so whatever. The AB model is very rare and ive been looking for one for 2yrs now.

  3. 4x pices of 1"x1" angle aluminum. Cut from 8’ stock i had on hand. I used a bunch of small clamps to hold it all togethet and then a spring punch to set my drill points. I was going to use some Nut serts or pop rivets. But ultimately i decided to just use self tappers to make it quick and easier.
I special ordered these 3’ heat sinks with the Quantum boards.

Ok the frame is assembled and the heat sinks installed.

Ok the light/ frame is built. Ill wire it up tomorrow and show exactly how i do that also.

For the power cord i have a plug end i cut off an old vaccuum has hight votage rating. Normally i buy a 25’ heavy duty extension cord and cut it in half and use that as the power cords for my drivers. Ill post more to this thread tonight when i wire the lights up and turn them on.

Most of the vacuum’s out there nowadays are around 1500w so no problem on the cord handling it. I have noticed that most of them also get warm while you’re running the vacuum. So they do the bare minimum to get the UL rating.

Man what r u planning on doing with this beast. U can prolly spread them apart with a 3 foot gap between sets and go for a nice sized area. Hell prey u can make it own scorp diablo any fashion u want lol. How much r the boards each to buy them. I should prolly have a couple on hand for replacements for my scorp and the same for the 260xls.

They were selling 3 packs for like $150 but theres going to be new boards shortly. I got these a couple years ago. And yeah i can space them out more also but i made this light for a certain size area lik 2.5’ x 6’ x 8’ like a bigger closet. I cant set up grow equipment ir the wife will be upset so im doing what i can for now whith what i got. Ill post a pic when i install the light maybe tonight.

Ok half is done i need to make another plug end for the driver to connect to.

Ok i got the othe side wired up and soldered.

So we should be at about 580watts at full power.

So i made the light frame to fit in this closet.

Its 8 feet tall and 2 feet wide and like 8 feet long inside.

I love it. Wish hlg would come out with strip boards or even strip sets ready to run or bar style even. I’ve had qb for a bit I wanna try the bar style and see what I get from them by same but it would be like a whole different grow with a different style light lol. Have a guy by me has the gavita 1700 series bar style sand I can grab 2 for 400 bucks says he did 2 runs with them and is trying his hand at hps and see what he gets from that. I’ve noticed a lot of bigger growers around me r switching from led to hps and mh says it’s a better end product but prolly twice the cost to get the end product hell I had one 400w light and some blurples that cost me double.in electric than what I spend now and now I have over double the watts and half the price spent.

Ive grown with everything and i like led. Less heat less electricity. I havent used an HP or MH for years. I max out at 8000watts when i run 8 tents. No way in hell could i do that with those old ass hot lights make. Hell if you want to try some i have ballasts in 400 600 and 800 watts. I even have 2 1000 watt balasts.

Hell naw. I had one 400w one and like 8 blurples hooked at first before my hogs and man was the electric bill a biggen lol. Wife said if it’s gonna be like this every month u ain’t doing this no more lol. Led it was. Half the price twice the watts. Or more lol

I ran 4- 1000 watters in an 8x11 room. Heat was insane 3 fans running continuous, im good with led :joy::rofl: definitely don’t miss the electric bill not to mention with the flooded market never be able to recoup the cost to run them. :+1::+1::v:

Hey @PreyBird1 what’s your take on this light it’s a RDJ Bouns 720 for 325.00 are the components descent? Im thinking of lightning half my 4x8x7 and use my 3 hlgxl 260rspec on the other side thanks

I’m not light expert lol but I’d shoot for Samsung lm301b or h chips. This lights shows to be lm281b chips which I believe r an older chip and not as good on the spectrum scale. Look at spider farmer er lights enfun makes lights similar to the 260s that hlg uses pluse they have a couple uva chips on the boards. If u seek them. Ake sure it’s ones with the meanwell driver there is some cheaper ones that have mofo drivers and they r not the same cheap heat sinks a d shitty drivers. I got duped on the ones I got didn’t pay attn to driver lol.

Oh snap. Meanwell or inventronics drivers r the good stuff Aldo. Lol

@Mark0427 is correct on the light. I would also look at spider farmer. I personally like Hlg. And Foshe and another brand that sold out Luxx. But gey a name brand. All these Chinese lights are unknown lights so its gamble.

Id try this light.

But i think this is much better! Just save a tiny bit more money you wounr be disappointed!

The black birds on sale for $524! That blackbird is a sexy low profile light. And the spider farmers is lower power and lower quality in my opinion. The hlg can go up to 600watts and down to 100 watts i like those numbers and there worth the extra $50

They have the controller 69 in 3 versions. Bluetooth (4 port) Wi-Fi (4 port), and the Pro Plus (Wi-Fi 8 port). I have the Bluetooth (4 port) Wi-Fi (4 port). I would like to get the Pro Plus to add my humidifier to my setup.
