I have 2 Supreme Runtz clones. They are potted up in the same substrate I always use, Green Monkey. The only difference is this time I added mycorrhizae. One plant is in an air pot and the other is in a cloth bag. They were potted up approximately 3 weeks ago and the GM substrate has a 3 week initial charge of nutes so no feeding yet. Watering with RO water pH’d at 6.0. The room temp is 73F and the humidity is between 50 and 60%. Light is a 25W full spectrum that I always use for my seedlings and clones. Both plants are showing severe leaf cupping. Any ideas of the cause? Treatment? The mom is about a week to 10 days until harvest No problems with her.
I seriously doubt that it is the mycorrhizae. Unless they put a strain of fungi or bacterial pot doesn’t like. What brand?

A separate package is included with the substrate. This is the first time I have used it. Added the recommended amount. Been using this substrate for several years now.
I certainly hope those are peso’s and not Dollars ?
Marty
LMAO! Yes, it’s pesos. I’m getting it for around 700 pesos for 100 liters. About $35 US. I also reuse it unless it’s a special project. It also comes with it’s own nutes which I have never used. Guess I should try them. Maybe I’ll use them on the 2 plants that are cupping. I’m doing an S1 run with them and the pollinator plant will be throw away and the other will hopefully be full of fem seeds. My wife is in love with this strain. Happy wife, happy life.
I’ve grown a couple of Runtz strains, didn’t care for them at all. That doesn’t mean good ones aren’t out there, I just didn’t get them lol.
Curling is generally temp, water, nutes, light, humidity and less often pests. burt I don’t see any signs of pests.
Marty
I keep a close eye for pests and the temps and humidity are in line. This is a pic of the mother. About a week to ten days until I pull her. The smaller plant is one of the S1 fem seeds I produced about a year and a half ago.
Even though you’ve used that light before, some strains can be extra sensitive, especially in different pots. Maybe try raising the light a bit or dimming it if possible.
I like your point about curling, nailing those factors like temperature, water, nutes, light, and humidity makes a world of differenc
Cupping could be from the mycorrhizae, pH being a bit low, or the light being too strong for them. Try raising the light a bit and maybe tweak the pH slightly.
I’m having a very similar issue with my LCG leaves are cuping temp,rh, are fine no bugs someone told me to check my runoff i usually check ph but don’t check ppm to often and it had a huge ppm so I’m doing a light flush until i can get it down must have had a nutrient lock out at some point not sure but it’s the only issue with it so maybe check the ppm
The application of mycorrhizae is generally beneficial for plants, as it enhances nutrient uptake and root health. However, leaf cupping is not a typical side effect of mycorrhizae application. If leaf cupping occurs, it might be due to other factors such as environmental stress, nutrient imbalances, or overwatering.
In some cases, as discussed in forums, leaf cupping has been observed when mycorrhizae were used, but it was likely due to other variables like the substrate or additional amendments. If you’re experiencing this issue, it might be worth reviewing the growing conditions and ensuring that the mycorrhizae product is being used as directed.
Last on my list…

Haven’t done a feeding yet. My sub comes with a 3 week charge. The mother was grown out of the same bag of substrate and is days away from harvest with no problems so the ppm should be OK. I’ll check it with the first feeding.
