Lower leaves dying

I have a mother plant that I just put to flower. She is about 10 months old and has given me several clean clones. She has always had an issue with the lower leaves dying but I always thought it was from the crappy veg light I used. But now she is on a quality light and the same thing is happening also the upper leaves have become twisted and stopped prying. I checked the PPFD and it’s at 600nm so I don’t think it’s a light issue.

This is the first time I have flowered such a large old plant. I’m in week 2 of flower but wondering if I should just cut my loses and start a new plant?

When i start losing the lowers, that’s when i uppot. Usually root bound issues.

I don’t have a bigger pot to put her it in so just cut her down and move on you think?

Hey @loganmn12

Why cut them down, I think they need a good defoliation at first, I would clean alot of those bottom stems and fan leaves off. What size pots are you using?

Naw. Just clean up the bottoms and you could trim up roots, just like a Bonsai plant.

I’m using an earthbox i think it’s about 15 gallons. It takes 2 cubic ft of soil.

I have been cutting the lower leaves that are yellow off but there is about 5 new yellow per day.

You do know that some “yellowing” is natural/OK What type of nutrients are you using ? if concerned give your plants a 4-5 day flush then re-adjust nutrients… Also for Mother Plants they need a special nutrient reg-a-ment Hope this helps

I use the no till living soil system. So I front load my nutes with Build A Soil craft blend. When she was in veg I would add it every couple months with some extra alfalfa meal for higher N. Than a couple weeks before flower I did just craft blend. I have been running this system for 3 years using the same soil and have multiple earth boxes. So I don’t think it’s a nute issue.

Your issue will “grow” out of it give it a week or so
