Hey, folkies. This is a mystery plant, grown from a seed I found in a bud that was supposedly Rocket Fuel. It’s to the point where it’s pounding water and nutrients and I don’t want to keep pouring that resource into this thing if I’m only going to compost it soon. What do the experts think? It’s driving me bats. 7 weeks in, super bushy, tons of potential bud sites, near perfect canopy after careful LST and defoliation; yet, calyxes aren’t moving. Some are spadey, some are more elongated, none look hermie. Not a single pistil anywhere while my C99s that are three weeks younger have pistils all over the place. I’d kick it into flower to see what happens, but my C99s need more veg time.
Check out these shots. Most of the bud sites fall into Nebula Haze’s (growweedeasy.com) ambiguous category. Spade shapes mostly, but no little stalks. Some more elongated calyxes, but no white hairs, only green leafiness. These cropped shots are the best my phone could get. Many thanks, friends.
Dont remember from whom i heard but it may be possible to do “early sexing” by giving plant 12/12 or flowering light schedule for 1 to few days and then back to regular schedule.
Definetly not expert here, but i feel it may be male… witnessing male pollen sacks for first time myself. Already cut down 4 so far this season.
That calyx in the first shot is what’s driving me so nuts. They’re pointy and not so round. None of them are round, yet none have the little stalk.
This example from GrowWeedEasy is female. Looks like many of the calyxes on my plant.
For today’s watering I added a supplement to support pre-flower, so hopefully I’ll see something move soon.
Sometimes its a bit too early to know for sure. Keep very close watch over the next few days. With a bit more time, you will know for sure… But just a few days.
Update: the jury is still out. Calyxes are elongating here and there and opening on the ends, but still all green. Taking everybody to flower together in ten days if I can keep the vegging under control.
Watch closely I think that pic is a male calyxes don’t open but males do and some look like a calyx give it a few more days and check . overnight I changed my call on a CPL seeds I got going now
@hoppiefrog That calyx in the first shot at the top of the thread looks like a male to you? That’s what more and more are looking like today. It’s a minor drama that flips twice a day, I tell ya. ha
Ya it looks like both but I see one I’m almost sure is male i know what u mean it can be very stressful to watch and wonder. Take some new pics (u did good with angles btw) in a few days and we will know for sure they are close
