The bill adding the delay passed the Massachusetts House and Senate without a public hearing and without a debate. The standard operating line with these kinds of delays is “We’re just making sure that everything will be handled thoroughly!”
Somehow I doubt that’s the real reason, and it goes against the will of the voters – 53.7% of voters were in favor of recreational on its previous timeline. Making the process as undemocratic as possible suggests that the lawmakers who wrote this bill are the “moral police.”
