Medical Cannabis?

So i have anxiety, depression, PTSD and other trauma etc. But enough about that. Due to this I have been prescribed medical cannabis card, and got my first script (only got half).

The one smoked this afternoon was Cannatrak Lemonos. Yeah wow. That was considered the Daytime smoke :joy:

Anyway are there strains anyone would suggesy for the above disorders? I am totally down on the healing this plant gives.

Love to hear from everyone.

Cheers

Hey! It seems like low THC strains with the right balance of CBD and other cannabinoids may be more beneficial for your conditions. It may be best to stay away from high THC strains, as they can potentially cause paranoia and irritability over time.

However, I cannot make any specific strain recommendations, as it is a subjective matter and everyone’s body chemistry reacts differently to each strain.

I hope that marijuana will become legalized in my area soon.

Take care,

Malloy

Hi @grizzlyhigh

Maybe speak with your local budtender or dispensary and find something/one local that can help, especially with consistent supply. There is a lot of research online that suggests alot of good with treating many mental conditions with cannabis. See this article from leafly.com with some strain suggestions to.

While medical research continues to develop a cure, some patients are finding relief from PTSD symptoms through the use of cannabis. According to scientists, people with PTSD often have an endocannabinoid deficiency and consuming cannabis can help with its symptoms. This is believed to lessen symptoms and improve mental balance to the patient. Popular examples of strains that may help with PTSD include [Skunk Plus ]
(Skunk+ Weed Strain Information | Leafly), White Lotus , and Snow Leopard . Use this list to explore the best marijuana strains that may help relieve symptoms associated with PTSD.

Most importantly do research yourself so you are informed in what you looking for and the advice you get from others.

Try using cannabis with low to zero THC. CBD gummies and tinctures will be great for your disorders.

For me personally I find high THC strains to help me the most, for some reason indica and hybrid strains seem to help with me depression and anxiety more as well. I’ve been on disability for anxiety/depression for 12+ years. Seen alot of crazy shit but I don’t think I have PTSD. Edit: edibles and distillate carts don’t seem to help as much for me

Thanks everyone. All i can say is after last nights Cannatrak Lemnos (i spelt it wrong originally), i feel so much more at peace today. Something incredibly rare in my life.

I used to smoke it as a teenager and it was jusy about getting high. Whereas every time I go through it now I feel some sort of healing. I am appreciating new music way outside my regular genres.

This is an amazing community.

@treetrunks sorry to hear you have struggled so long. I am big supporter of mental health awareness for men. Its still way too taboo, which needs to change.

Thank you, I don’t usually talk about it much. It can be hard for some people to understand disabilities they can’t physically see. Cannabis and growing have been massively beneficial for my mental health.

The disability program I am on gives reviews every 3 years to check that everyone still qualifies. The example they give for not having to do reviews is a terminally ill cancer patient. That being said my condition is severe enough that I no longer need to do the review either. Its kind of their way or saying yes we think your fd for life and there’s no chance that you’ll recover.

Growing is the one thing I can do ā€œnormallyā€ and put in a decent amount of work. It gives me something to look forward to long and short term. The next harvest, trying new strains and the possibility of making a better future then where I’m at now. I’m planning on expanding to do medical for a few patients in a few years. Right now I’m just learning as much as I can and getting as much practice as I can. I’m also slowly trying to collect some better mothers. Basically growing is giving me a shot at a more ā€œnormalā€ life.

Edit: I find alot of strains and products ect that works well for one person may not work as well for another with the same condition. High THC Indica for example may work well for me but maybe you find better results with a medium thc sativa ect

Keep charging on. You’ve found what you can do to keep going. So that is a massive win right there.

I have my first grow going, help subsidise the medical cost’s of it. Learning so much along the way.

The savings from growing vs buying was what got me started, I had no idea how far it was going to go at the time. GN community has been an absolutely massive help along the way.

I’m not a doctor, but I can give you some suggestions based on anecdotal evidence and research. It’s important to remember that everyone’s experience with cannabis can be different, so it’s essential to experiment with different strains and dosages to find what works best for you. I this case I would suggest you try a CBD-dominant strain because they may help you cope to some extent.

Try everything and grow your own if you are able.

If you find a dispensary that you like and can afford then by all means dive in. You will get some good deals, some pretty good weed, and it will be convenient.

The growing aspect alone has been some of the best medicine for me. There is a rhythm to it and it helped me when I really needed it. Oh! You know that old saying, ā€œTeach a man to fishā€? Well it’s true but in the case of Cannabis it is a hell-of-a-lot more fun.

Good Luck @grizzlyhigh

Sorry to hear about your struggles, but I’m glad to hear that medical cannabis is helping. Different strains can definitely have different effects on different people, so it’s worth trying out different ones to see what works best for you. Some strains that are known to help with anxiety and depression include Blue Dream, Harlequin, and Granddaddy Purple. For PTSD, some strains that have been reported to be helpful include OG Kush, Sour Diesel, and Bubba Kush.

I got the other half of my script which is all CBD and no THC really. And the flower although not the most pleasing aroma, fit its purpose and tasted nice. Has been helping greatly these last few weeks. Only one day I couldn’t cope. So thats pretty good.

I had ADHD, and as a solution, I started cannabis treatment. Honestly, at first, I didn’t feel much of a difference, but after a while, things started getting better and better. I was generally skeptical about this treatment, but like with most things, spontaneous use works the best. If anyone needs it, here’s the page on THC for ADHD.

I’ve been using cannabis oil for my chronic joint pain, and it’s made a huge difference. I started with small doses and adjusted based on how I felt. It works best for me when taken at night since it helps me sleep too. I’ve also noticed fewer side effects compared to some of the prescription meds I was on. Everyone’s different, but cannabis oil has been a solid option in my routine.

I created my own strains for this purpose. I have p.t.a.d or post tramatic amnesia disorder from really bad motorcycle accidents and i have had 3 Tbi’s and lived in a hospital for 4 months after a 10 day coma and like 15 serious surgeries. And ridiculous amounts of hardware (plates & screws permanent internal fixation parts) i hate pain pills and only smoke weed. I wont even take ibuprofen because i do not like pills of any sort. My ankles are both shattered and fused back together, shattered both arms. Broken kneck in 5 places, broken ribs, toes fingers, feet, hands, fingers, collar bone, shoulder blade. I have broken almost every bone you possibly except my hips and femurs. I need some good weed and being able to develope it myself has been priceless and saved my so much money over dispo weed garbage i refuse to buy also. Because i can control what i grow and what i put in my plants. I never have to worry about if my weed is safe and pure.

I use high-CBD strains during the day to stay clear-headed, then switch to higher-THC ones at night for sleep. Keeping a simple journal helps me track what works best.

I’ve been a medical user from the start.

Because of my cannabis use, I’ve had four ophthalmologists tell me it is the only reason I am not blind now (funky glaucoma). REALY COOL THING, because of my ongoing use, I was told by current ophthalmologist I could discontinue two Rx eyedrops used twice daily as long as I continue my cannabis use.

Yesterday, dermatologist who has been freezing pre-cancerous spots from my skin told me to use my cannabis lotion ( we make it here) on my face and arms as well as any dry areas.

Rheumatologists tells me to ā€œcontinue my current pain regimenā€.

My primary care physician has been using our lotion for her knees for years.

My regimen is inhalation when pain is acute or eyes freaking, edibles before bed to help fight sleep disruption (from pain). I don’t actually smoke, I use a Pax for flower, and press my own rosin as well as make my own cartridges.

Here are three great books with all the current medical info.

The one on the left by Dr Peter Grinspoon is the third of a trilogy started by his father in 1971 with ā€œMarihuana Reconsideredā€, by Dr Lester Grinspoon. It is the book I read as a child that convinced me to try cannabis for my ā€œbad kneesā€ (my nickname then!). This is all of the current science compared and reported.

Center book is a true handbook for those wanting to learn how to apply cannabis in their life. It has great citations for those looking for more than a guidebook.

Third is more UK-centric but great information, it covers history and a good explanation of the endocannabinoid system.

The fourth is just a great, fun book to read!

A lot of the medical over here is irradiated, not sure why that is. I have never tried it myself but has anyone else? Did it change the smoke/high? Thanks all

Medical here is a joke. I will never pay for dispensary weed. Believe it or not I GOT A GUY for good weed. Lol i mean black market Good weed. Before i started growing again i use to buy his weed and sell it to my medical client’s. Then i decided to just start supplying myself and my clients. And he used to come over and be like why are you buying my weed when you have all this?? I said this is my weed and i dont share it. I sell your weed and smoke mine. Sometimes i would buy some weed just to see what kind of flower is on the market and sample it. Then if it was good I’d try and find seeds for that strain. Thats how i started making my own seeds and cultivars. My dealer lol went on vacation to Europe for 4 weeks and forgot to tell me he was going and left me with no weed for myself or my clients. It was not good and i was pissed off at him and i told him thankyou. Because it got me back into growing. Now i grow some commercial seeds here or there. But mainly i do a lot of in house testing of my strains and making new crosses. Im working on some landrace crosses right now. I have a hmong thai x Vietnamese black cross thats like 2 weeks to finish. Im In testing now on 7 newer strains that i created 2 years ago. It takes a lot of time to breed and test each strain.
