Mold or beneficial?

Midnight Cherry tomatoes

Using GH line with Recharge and michroiza. 70/30 coco perlite. Tried spraying the outside of the bag with h202 but the mold comes back better than before.

Watering twice a day, drain to waste.

Hey Chaos,

Save you sprays my freind, that is salt deposit and normal after you have your plants growing in the bags for awhile…and judging from the size of those stems, I’m guessing that is your situation

They have been in these bags for maybe 2 weeks, these spots started after about a week in the bag. I am feeding around 1000-1300ppm which has not burned them yet. I did notice I have edema on many leaves which I have not been able to eliminate yet.

This is on many leaves but not all. Edema? I can’t imagine how I’d have overwatering issues in this mix with fabric pots. No sign of any pests and I check real good several times a day.

Have to be honest with you :

  1. The residue on your bags is definitely ‘salt’ residue and will cause you no harm…

  2. I am unfamiliar with Edima in tomatoes…

  3. It’s getting late in the season for tomatoes and depending on how long they’ve been growing the onset of normal senescense will present itself often as wonky displays in the lower leaves.

Sorry I can’t offer more than that!!

Thanks for putting my mind at ease, I will try to flush some salts out tomorrow.

If it is edema, it could be from high humidity, though I keep it between 50-60% at all times. It does spike to 65% for a bit when lights go off.

These are in a grow tent inside so no worries about outdoor seasons. I should have watermelons and tomatoes within the next few weeks.

The salts that are accumulating on your bag are nomal and DO NOT indicate you need to flush.
Just think of it as salts in your drainage water…same thing. Some of your nutrient water is penetrating through the bag and when they dry they leave the characteristic salts that you are seeing behind!!

A constant source of fresh fruit/veggies throught the seasons…sound like FUN!

Good luck!
