Monkey Slapz from Preybird farms

OK. Here’s my plan. I will be doing an in and out grow implementing the gas lantern lighting routine. We live on a fixed income so I do whatever I can to keep expenses down. I bought cheap block Coco. Rinsed it thoroughly and buffered it twice for approx. 20 hours total in my homemade Cal-Mag and then rinsed with 15 gallons of RO water. I plan to add about 8L of my homemade compost and 10 or 15L of perlite in a 50L pot. I will be potting up the Monkey Slapz to a liter pot, then when she’s ready into the coco. I will be using Advanced Nutrients because it is easily available and cost effective for me to ship. I have never really grown in coco and I see that AN offers a coco blend. Recommendations anyone? If it’s worth it I can order. FYI I eat 3 eggs a day and grind them and add it to my 55G compost barrel that I just dumped and sifted so there should not be a calcium problem with the buffering and the compost. Please help a newbie coco grower and please correct me when, not if, I am mistaken.

Sounds like a solid plan to me!

Just be aware that eggshells are not readily available, they take a long time to break down, If you want the calcium to be available anytime soon, you need to put them in a blender and powder them. And if I were you I would go with Jacks or Dakine or Crop salts for coco. I grew with AN for a long time, and never got the results that I have with other less expensive brands.

Yeah, What I do is save enough for a couple of blender cups full of crunched up shells and then grind them up finely and add them to the barrel. The barrel I just processed had been working for over a year. It’s a 55 gallon drum on a spindle that I turn about once every week or so.

Oh how I wish I could get half the things down here that are available to growers that live in the real world. :sob: When I first started growing I was looking for cal-mag. $22 a liter, $112 to ship. It is getting better everyday but for now I have to make do with what is available within my budget. As I have stated before our town is so small we do not even have mail service.

Damn no wonder it took forever to get you some beans.

Yeah I am from a small town, in the US, so we did have mail service. But back in the day…and most on here will probably think I am bullshitting…but you didn’t have a phone line for yourself. The only thing available was a party line. It would ring like morse code. If it was your ring say one long and two shorts, then you would answer it, if not you weren’t supposed to. However anyone on the entire circuit could and did pick up and listen in. And if you were on the phone too long, someone would pick up their phone and tell you to get the fuck off the line they needed to make a call.

What are the real estate prices down there and what is the income requirement to move to Mexico if you know??? I know you can’t move there permanently if you are intending on getting a job, it’s not allowed for non citizens.

Oh yeah, I remember party lines. Saw some pretty intense arguments over usage.
A Mexican company can hire a maximum of 10% foreign employees, with some exceptions. The remaining 90% of the workforce must be Mexican nationals.
I know rentals here just went through the roof due to the Royal Caribbean cruise line just bought the adjacent port and will be starting a multi-million dollar Perfect Day private facility like the one in the Bahamas.

My house is 4 blocks from the port. The cruise line is buying up everything that is not nailed down at above market prices. I’m hoping they will eventually make me an offer and if they do, I’m looking at Guatemala because this is the end of Mahahual as we know it. There are 3 types of visas here:
Visitor - Good for up to 180 days at which time you must leave the country but can re-enter immediately for another 180 days. A lot of people run down to Belize, cross the border and come back. Border is about an hour and a half from us.
Temporary Resident- Must be applied for at the closest Mexican Consulate in your home country before arriving in Mexico. 1st issue for a year and is required for 4 years at which time you must apply for permanent residency or leave the country.
Permanent Resident- Which I have and it never needs to be renewed.
To move to Mexico from the US and obtain residency, you’ll need to demonstrate financial solvency through either a substantial monthly income or significant savings. For a Temporary Resident Visa, you’ll typically need a monthly income of at least $4,182 USD, or a bank balance of around $73,235.29 USD (or 5,000 times the minimum wage in Mexico City). For a Permanent Resident Visa, the requirements are even higher, potentially requiring a monthly income of $6,970 USD or savings of around $292,859 USD (or 20,000 times the minimum wage). Note that these amounts can vary slightly by consulate.
When I got mine you could do it in Mexico. I did not meet the financial requirements. I got around it by subterfuge which now that you apply in the U.S. is unavailable. Used to be a lot easier. Lots of hoops now. I was getting ready to go for my citizenship, (another HUGE hoop), but am now reconsidering due to this Perfect Day fiasco. All I can say about all of this is, “Life goes on”.

And isn’t it amazing that Mexico has these stringent requirements, yet all the Mexicans that flooded up here think they are entitled to stay with no citizenship, no visa, no anything and a low paying job. And all the idiot lefties think it is ok too. I have zero problems with immigration none. As long as it is done according to the rules, and that goes both ways. I would never try and stay in another country without following the rules. How many Americans do you know that have a close to $7000 a month income, and have to live here with much higher prices to boot? That for anyone interested amounts to a $45 dollar an hour job working 40 hours a week.

Half the Americans here are illegal. Most of them running from someone, or something. I have been living here for 27 years and have only been asked for my proof of residency once, other than when flying out of the country. I had an acquaintance, illegally in the country, that was robbing houses on Isla Mujeres. They had proof but it still took over a year for the victims to get him deported. Talk about your due process. Mexico’s attitude seems to be as long as you cause no problems, no problem.

i agree with uuuu

I would think robbing houses is a problem lol. Course in Mexico I’m pretty sure firearms are very restricted?? Sounds like a candidate for S&W introduction.

The places around the world where one can just enjoy a peaceful retirement are getting harder and harder to find. If they are warm sunny good people quite and laid back, someone will find a way to ruin it. Long ago I almost invested in some cliffside real estate in Negril Jamaica, some female flight attendant friends of mine did, and lost their shirts and their bras. One has to be very careful investing in real estate in other countries, their protections are not like what we have in the US.

Thanks Prey. I haven’t grown from seed in a while and I forgot how long it takes for the little babies. This will also be my first coco grow. The MS will be in the coco and the Crasher will be in my go to Green Monkey substrate. I also have a Supreme Runtz that I will be growing out for stash. My last Runtz was the best smoke I have ever grown. Friends were afraid to come over. Walk in, crawl out. They’re getting close to pot up.

You talking about the Guadamala move or where you are now? Thought you just said that port thing was gonna ruin it.

I don’t know if I did something wrong, but the one and only Runtz grow I did was at best mediocre…and that is being kind. Not just my take either, friends didn’t want to smoke it either, the other stuff in the tent did great (Candy Store) so it wasn’t I don’t think the grow.

What Runtz did you grow? Mine was a Supreme Runtz. Biggest colas I’ve ever grown.

I’m still here in Mexico. Gonna take at least a few years to get to the point that it’s unbearable. I’ll be making plans. Might move to another small town here in Mexico since I’ve got 27 years of history here.
