I’m glad you guy’s are getting some rain! My niece is a teacher out there and she was laughing because none of the elementary kids had never seen rain before! Lol!
Yup, the rains been a God Send, but it’s been seasonally colder than an eskimo’s nose…
In friggin Cali there never has been a ‘normal’ rain year…it’s either drought or flood !!
All this water is gonna be good for exploring…
I wish I was there to look through creek beds for arrow heads once the rains go back to normal for y’all.
Carrots are tough for me, too. I plant mine in little rows of seedling mix I add on top of my garden soil. I find it easier to keep that kind of mix moist, and that seems to help mine germinate and get going. After warm Feb, we had a cold March, so
I’m looking forward to a little real spring weather for a few mins at least around here.
Yeah, my carrots are starting to pop. I saw quite a few this morning. I’m sure tomorrow’s gonna be a whole bunch more. I got all kinds of garlic blowing up an the onions are all starting to pop to.
The two autos are underwhelming me. Lol.
Yup, those are pistils. Maybe they’ll grow bigger as they begin to flower… I turned the light up to about 65%.
I suppose I’ll fill the water reservoirs tomorrow morning and apply a third BBP dose.
Hope y’all are enjoying the springtime!
Carrots used to be white and they breed the orange mutation for the House Of Orange UK i think.
One of the autos is doing well, and the other is not. Can you guess which is which?? Lol!
Right now, these plants are getting about 75% power from the light. I am going to add some nutes to the rain water during my next feeding, which ought to be today. I don’t reckon I’ll be able to give any more BBP to the stunted baby plant, but I may give one more dose to the one that’s not yet really flowering. @TheMadFlascher, would that be an ok idea?
Compared to the photos I grew last time, these autos are not as strong/vigorous or as thirsty. Also, I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I sprinkled some mosquito dunk powder on the top of the soil. That is a very effective way to kill all those black flies. There are now zero in my tent.
Just returned from a quick vacay with my wife, kids, and mother-in-law. It’s great to be safely back in Virginia! Hope spring is treating you well!
Mr Baker…
Actually, I would apply BBP to both of those plants…2-2.5ml/8 oz water rate…
We have found very often that BBP is actually great at pulling seedlings out of a funk !
Not to say that it’s as panacea for all possible ailments, but that’s been our experience. I don’t see any leaf burn, so I don’t believe there was a nutrient or pH issue there. I suspect there’s some kind of root issue, so maximizing your metabolic rate will be beneficial to both foliage/root development…heck here’s your chance to give er a try !!
LOL, no pressure…but you better make this work !!!
Thanks, @TheMadFlascher! I applied the dose you recommended this morning and had plenty of leftovers for a hydrangea, a hot pink rose bush, and a kousa dogwood I haven’t ever gotten to bloom.
Now, I have a question.
This curling is new today. It’s only on the two leaves on this node. The leaves above and below look ok to me. Any guesses what could be causing this? Maybe just a genetic thing, or maybe a deficiency? Thanks for any advice you can provide!
Have a lovely day, y’all!
Sorry for the late reply Mr. Baker!!
You know, I see the lower set of leaf margins curling up…
I think it’s probably time ti take a long spoon and carefully dig down to that root zone near the edge of the pot…I don’t think nutrient is you primary issue !
JMHO
Bob, that idea is scary to me! What will I be looking for? Thanks for the lessons, as always! I enjoy learning about this stuff a lot and really appreciate your guidance!
Mr. Baker…you’re just burrowing a hole at the very side of the pot to see if that soil may be waterlogged or have dry layers…I continue to believe that you’re having rooting problems and this little exercise is the easiest way to see what’s going on. If you do it right next to the wall of your pot it should have minimum damage.
The plants are marching on!
The Tricross plant is going great. Biggest auto I’ve ever grown, I think.
I had to supercrop some branches in order to kinda even out the canopy. They recovered really quickly. Plant reeks. Not sure how to describe it, but it is stinky.
The Methane plant is a different story. Something just isn’t right with this one.
The roots look ok to me, but the leaves are funky. Most have just three fingers! Is it genetics, ya think? I haven’t a clue. Some of the new growth looks ok, but this plant is not doing great. What do you think is causing the funk?
Now, I have a note for anybody interested in GroBuckets. Go ahead and buy yourself the extra tall tent. Five-gallon buckets are tall and really eat into your growing space.
A few days ago, I planted my apple tree in the yard. I’d hardened it off over the previous month or so. It’s enjoying life in the ground, I think. Now I gotta care for it. Unsure how to take care of fruit trees, but I’ll be learning!
Cleaned my pipe this morning, ground up some fresh Grandpa’s Stash x Crescendo, and took a moment to appreciate all the simple happiness I have in my life.
Hope all is well w everybody!
Mr Baker…
I believe that your suspicions are probably correct…there’s just no way getting around compromised genetics!
Hope life is good for everybody on this fine May morning!
The cat named Harper fully approves of the Atlas Tricross foliage. I think it smells great, too. Pretty excited to smoke this one.
I super-cropped the main cola pretty late in the game, as it was growing way taller than the others. As a result, I have a pretty even “canopy” at this time.
Question for anyone with an opinion: I think the stretching time is about finished for this little auto, so I was considering adjustments to my light. Right now, it’s about eight inches above the top tops, and the light is running at 100%. Do you think this is too much? Should I move it up? This is an area of my growing in which I still know nothing. Would really appreciate some insights.
I’m getting a little crispiness creeping up on a few top leaves. Am feeding these plants Gen Hydro trio in bloom doses at each watering. Could that be the issue, do you reckon? Should I be worried about this, or just lop ‘em off and keep rolling?
Here’s an observation related to these GroBuckets. The system with the float that indicates remaining water in the reservoir is wonderful, in that it allows you to respond to actual plant “thirst” in real time. I used to just guess whether the root zone needed water, and I obviously dramatically under-watered when I was running the show. Now that I can see exactly how much water is in the root zone, I’m able to do a much better job of growing big plants.
The weird little Gnome Methane plant continues to be weird and little. I am actually super excited to see what kind of bud I get off this baby. She really needs to be defoliated.
Outside garden is going well. I think I’m going to start some cannabis seeds for outdoor growing pretty soon. Just trying to decide what strain(s) to start.
Have a lovely day!
One more thing…
I have not really enjoyed growing autos, in general, but one thing I’m really seeing with the Atlas Tricross plant is that, when an autoflower plant is happy, it can grow FAST! Check out this pic from just one month ago:
Put your hand at the top of your plants with the light on. Leave it there for 30-40 seconds. If it gets hot to your hand, you’re too close. Another thing to consider is bleaching. if you see the tops of your buds, turning white, raise your light. Looks like you’re killing it to me…
I am am a beginer but “chrispiness” is something i avoid. Might raise the light. Nice looking grow!
