Yes he is back! Here is his new thread.
Looking good. I never paid much attention to when you’re supposed to start using BBP. I’ve always started spraying at the second set of split leaves. This is a great journal, thanks for sharing the small details. I’m not very good at it.
I should have started the BBP last week but I wanted to make sure the roots could handle more uptake for the nutrients.
Day 17. I noticed the leaves are curling this morning. I think I bumped up the nutrients to much. I’m going to add some pH’ed water to dilute the nutrients a little. I’m also going to fog them with some HOCI at lights out.
Yep, looks like you might’ve got your water too hot. If you Clip off the four lowest leaves it will probably recover quicker because it doesn’t need to revive them. And they look like they’re done anyway.
I already plucked them! Thanks for the suggestion. My PPM’s are at 850 and should be between 500/600 PPM. That’s why I think I overdosed them. I’m using an aquarium thermometer for constant water temperature readings, plus my pH and TDS meters to check water temperature and the water temperature has stayed between 73 and 78. UPDATE I dropped the PPM down to 550. I’m thinking I probably need to run the nutrients about 30% less than recommended until flipping to flower.
After doing a lot of flipping through their website, or maybe from the pamphlet that came with it when I first bought it. I spotted somewhere that it The full strength recommendations are for when using CO2. And they recommend using a lower dose. I don’t like the look of burn tips so I I don’t believe I ever used full strength since I’ve been using this stuff. I have used full strength on just about everything else I’ve ever used, but not with this. That’s why it’s so economical for me. Anyways, you know what to look for so you’ll respond correctly and quickly to whatever comes up I’m sure.
Well I like having an extra set of eyes! This is the 1st time in five years I tried a hydro grow. The only other time I did hydro I was chasing pH all the time and after a month I finally gave up and put the plants in soil. So far pH levels aren’t big swings and I should have caught the ppm issue when I changed the nutrient solution. I’m happy with this setup so far, but still learning!
I always wondered about how long before the Ph in the water starts to change?
In my experience it starts getting out of range about day 4. Since I started this time I haven’t had any issues with severe drifts. I am thinking drip recirculating and keeping the water temperature below 80 degrees has helped. I noticed that @PreyBird1 hasn’t had drift issues on his current run since adding a water chiller to his reservoir setup. The PPM’s should drop as the plant uptakes the nutrients. This chart shows a test I ran before using Grobuckets to see if the drift would be bad before the nutrient solution wicked up into the soil. The good thing about doing this test was realizing the the water and nutrients would be wicked up to the soil in 3 days. I also found out that starting with a pH of 5.8 to 6.0 will slow down the drifting. I also think the PPM drifting up was because of hydrogen ions building up and there weren’t plants up-taking the nutrients
Day 18. Lowered the PPM’s to 550 and did a little manicure and misted with HOCI. They look a little better this morning.
I think you’re going to have a lot of success with this grow and i am looking forward to seeing how she finishes. You got this
I havent had to adjust my ph since i started this last grow.
Yeah you two are doing great in dwc…
I know I sound like a kissass most of the time @PreyBird1 . But you seem to always have Amazing runs. Love watching your grows. Hat’s off to you.
She really growing nice. @nacho151
Hat’s off to you as well
