Newbie here ... trying to germinate ten year old seeds LOL

As I recall the old Maui Wowie was the first mix of the Aloha landrace with another sativa. I’m trying to find the original Aloha, but having the MW would be great. I would clone enough of them so I could do the STS and make some more seeds. This forum is making me want to breed seeds. Shame on you all. Especially @PreyBird1! LOL

The seeds are forming. We even got pollinated pre-flower seeds.

Here is what I got if you want to get some, it only takes a tiny little bit, this pound will last you a long time. I have had this for over a year and still have 80% of it. Use it every watering, it only takes a 1/4 teaspoon per gallon.

Thank you, again! I wish you could sell me a teaspoon. LOL …

I know I don’t need to but I just wanted to prove I CAN garden even though I’m unsuccessful with my elderly seeds LOL … I have 7 varieties of tomatos growing (164 plants total). I will be giving a lot of them away to friends and family. I also have peppers and LOTS of flowers. Starting seeds for squash, herbs, etc. today. Gardening is a little addictive this year after job loss. I can’t seem to stop buying cheap LED grow lites. I started out with three Ottlite lamps that I’ve used for years, but am loving the hanging LED lights. I will have three by the time the third one is delivered today. I also have 5 seedling warming trays. So, I’m ready to keep on keeping on and try some real seeds soon, Anyway, this is my seedling setup, for now. Thanks so much for all your replies, suggestions, advice, etc. I will be following this thread and others for a long time.

LOL I thought of that too.

Those are hairs the plant grows to help in water collection and temp regulation. They also transpire if needed. But yes, you will see trichs on stems also.

I should probably start a new thread for this, but ACK! Why is shipping so high for seeds? I only want to buy about 5 seeds and have looked at multiple sites. Get to the end to find they want 20 bucks or whatever. Plus, I’m paranoid. Not really wanting to give my address or my credit card info. Seeing nobody takes PayPal and I don’t do Bitcoin. I assume it’s a good thing to buy extra stealth packing? Very stressful. I’m gonna ask my personal friends before jumping into online purchasing IF I EVER SEE THEM AGAIN. Damn Covid. Soon enough, I guess. Two weeks in from my first vaccine. Anyway, any tips on online buying, should I go that route, would be much appreciated. Info on shipping and the ability to buy 1,3 or 5 seeds would be very helpful. Thanks, you all rock!

One thing to consider about extra stealth packaging is alot of places will remove the seeds from the breeder packaging.

And that is a safety thing, yes? I like reading packaging, but totally get that it’s best to remove.

Yes but if you are dealing with a less reputable dealer there’s no guarantee that they won’t switch them out with cheaper seeds and it may make them easier to mix up with another strain if they aren’t labeled.

I’m not sure about the laws in your area but alot of breeders/ banks get away with offering there seeds as “collectable adult genetic preservation souvenirs only”, I’ve done a few orders from True North Seed bank and I’ve been paying with Cc and have opted to have everything delivered in breeder packaging without problems. That being said I did have a hard time with them sending me the wrong beans on one order but they eventually made up for it and then some.

You probably don’t remember this convo when I first joined in April, but you suggested I try fulvic acid for my ancient seeds and I said I wished you could send me a tsp and you said you wished you could, too. Then we both laughed about how that would look to the USPS to send white powder through the mail. Then you disappeared for quite some time (damn Covid!!) but recently reappeared … WELL, I finally ordered some and this is how it arrived, I kid you not!

This is how they ‘packaged’ it

Obviously, the ‘packaging’ broke and a lot of the powder was at the bottom of the envelope when I got it LOL

Thought you might have gotten a kick out of this story …
