Hey, hi! Sorry, I’ve been off for awhile. I’ve only been here to check mail. LOL. We are babysitting a baby scrub jay that fell out of its nest on that searing hot Monday last week. His/Her two siblings passed, but this one is thriving. We feel like grandparents! He has gone from tiny gaping baby to perching on the box he’s in and fledgling about. The parents are always overhead keeping watch.
Anyway … I used to go to these fireworks events. I went to Lacey back when it was in the mall parking lot which always felt … wrong … haven’t been since the early 90s or since they moved locations. Then when I was married with small kids, we did the Tumwater event, the all day thing with the kids running loose and lying on the grass for hours hoping not to get hit in the head with a frisbee (flying things tend to gravitate towards my head and ears). But, now I pretty much stick with the Lakefair fireworks and I can walk down the Westside hill to it. I always loved fireworks over water. I’ve done the Boston Harbor event a couple of times and really like that one, but the traffic jam afterwards … same with the Tumwater and Lacey events, the traffic. I just can’t with that anymore. The trick to Tumwater is to get there early and park near Tumwater Falls or Pints Barn, but that takes more planning than I care to do these days. No kiddies to please.
July 4th is my mom’s birthday, so I’m also somewhat more quiet on that day as I think of her and miss her. She died in 2000. Somber day for me sometimes. I ended up going to my son’s house in Lakewood and had a bonding time with him. Sorry, didn’t mean to blather on as I have.
Traffic jams? Ain’t nobody got time for dat! I live over by Kirby Island, and my daughter and I joined some friends on their boat to watch the fireworks contest/battle between the eastside and westside of Long Lake.
@mudman I think I might be 3/3 for females for this round. Not that I’m complaining. The outside ISKs take f#ck!ng forever to show their sex.
I guess I would also say that (given my extremely limited experience growing autos) that outside autoflowers take longer to show their sex then the same plants from seeds, but grown indoors.
Seems accurate from everything I’ve seen. They’re getting closer to optimal natural growing conditions so they’re not in a rush to make sure they reproduce. A larger root zone also seems to make a big difference in veg time.
Now, that’s a great way to view fireworks!! I didn’t know they had side battles like that locally. I stayed in Union, WA once for the 4th and watched the fireworks battles between Union and the other side of Hood Canal (Tahuya). It’s called ‘Thunder on the Canal’ … Union also has a fantastic music community at the bars and delis there. Highly recommended.
Yeah, the amount of monies spent is … crazy … but, yes, awesome.
Everything looks amazing, as always! Man those ISKs look GOOD!!! The 3 little ones look like they’re keeping their fatter leaf structure for now. Maybe you’ll get a good cheese pheno.
She sure does. I’m hoping this plant gets more of the blueberry cheesecake profile that Aileen had. The lemon smells good and all… but come on man! I want blueberry cheesecake!
The orange pot ISK is now Thing 1. She got 4 cups of water and nutes this morning. I transplanted her on top of 3” of dry S#4. She looks pretty great after how I treated her last night.
