Op-ed: Why are police departments still using drug field tests?

I thought this was a good article to bring up, because of just how flawed these fields tests are. The MPP found in 2008/2009 that nearly 70% of 42 non-cannabis objects tested false-positive for cannabis. Heck, they even tested positive to the open air. You’d have better chances of avoiding false positives by playing rock-paper-scissors. Crime labs and the DOJ have insisted that police departments stop using these things, and yet they’re still around.

I can’t believe how bad these things are. They’re so unhelpful, it’s like they can say whatever an officer wants them to say.
