Organic insect -deterrent- for agriculture

Essentially they took the genes for an insect-deterring chemical from tobacco plants, stuck them in some bacteria which will produce it as a byproduct… and sure enough, it deters pests without poisoning them (which is good news for bees). It also doesn’t seem to have any toxicity that the researchers found.
