If you operate or plan to operate in Pittsburgh PA, your city has already passed a mandatory paid sick leave law that goes into effect on March 15th, 2020. With it’s passing, the idea that you can maintain a PTO bank of time off may not serve you well any longer. Likewise, if you are already providing what you think is the equivalent amount that is mandated, that does not mean you are in compliance!
The law has lots of nuances that kick in based on whether or not you have fifteen or more employees. You can use an accrual system or front load the time but need to consider several other factors.
