So in this thread were going to ben in my Laboratory or as a call it my Dabratory because it started with making dab. So im going to keep all my extracts and Rosin pressing info And Rosin cart making info all here As well as making tinctures, gummies, canna butter. Well i bought a Rosin press a Nugsmasher touch And have been learning to make Rosin. And at the same time learning how to make Rosin carts. I have some older flower and i noticed that older flower makes much much darker rosin. So i have some darker rosin hanging around. And wanted to practice making some more carts. But i have a few clients that like carts. So i made peach and watermellon last time for those guys. But the kits have a tiny glass syringe with blunt needle and if you want to make a lot of carts it is not very easy because its so small and cools off fast.
I like to only use Rosin and nothing else. I have tried the Ejmix and flavor terpens as well. I dont like the fake flavors. The powerslug Optix all glass carts are refillable! So i do a $5 cart credit return program for new carts when you bring back the old cart. I can take it apart and drop it into my ultra sonic cleaner filled with 99%iso and refill the glass carts.
So heres what i did today… I made 10 carts using some Berry Bomb Rosin i had laying around.
Heres the supplies i have and used.
A mini oven for decarbing the rosin. I also can use the Rosin press and a decarbing capsule but its to small and there over priced! A glass jar and an oven works just fine.
Small glass canning jar for decarbing the rosin and mixing in the Ejmix and terpenes.
Heated Cart filling gun. I messed up and got way to big of a gun. I got a 50ml and i should have got the 25ml gun but the price was the same and returning it was a huge hassle.
So i turned the mini oven to 225f dropped 5g of rosin into the jar and screwed the lid on and just just a hair tight. Just turned the lids collar until i felt a little resistance and stopped. I put that in the oven.
The cart gun was set initially to 110-114 but i found that 120f worked a little better the keep the rosin a little thinner and easier to inject into the carts. And if you over fill the cart which i did on a couple carts and it was easy to suck out using the gun.
I ran into an issue wherebthe carts were cold and the rosin was warm and when it hit the cold carts it slowed down And did not want to go into the carts. So i learned real quick i need heated everything. I have a heat plate and im gonna get an aluminum cart holder and set it on the heat plate with the decarbed rosin and loaded with the carts so all of it stays hotter and easier to deal with. Because i ended up having to use my mini heat gun to warm the carts up so the rosin would go into the carts While im making the carts up. The mini heat gun got all the bubbles out and made leveling the oil levels in the carts easy as the heat made them runnier and easier to deal with. The recipe i created for this run is as follows now im selling these carts so i did use the Ej mix and the flavor terps but i used very very little. They recommend (36) drops of Ej mix per gram of rosin which is crazy.
5g of decarbed rosin. 225f for 20 mins.
15 drops of Ejmix.
15 drops of pineapple express Terps thinning mix
This ratio yield is as follows
1g Rosin, 3 drops Ej mix, 3 drops terps = 2) .5ml carts.
So a 5gr+15dej+15dt= 10).5ml carts. So 5g rosin 15 drops ejmix 15 drops terps makes (10) .5ml carts or (5)5.1ml carts.
This Rosin was a golden color because it was super Fresh flower. I pressed it at 1,100psi at 170f for 4mins and i pressed 14g or half an ounce for a return 4.2g. It was super chunky almost like a rosin sauce. But man it buttered up over night like crazy.
The air bubbles turned bright yellow. Next batch i will hit the bubbles with a torch to pop them before i let them set up. I used 28 grams of flower to 3 cups everclear. Then i reduced that down to a RSO oil then i added that to the gummie mix. I will be tryinhmg a few different gummie recipes here to see what i like the most.
These trimmers are pretty cheap and sell for like $50-150. I got this for trimming larfy smaller buds because there a P.i.a to trim and sometimes i would rather not bother with them at all. This way i can take a branch trim just a few big fan leaves then snip the buds off the stem into the bow trimmer. I did a few really larfy buds last night. Using the grill style sreen. If i remember the one with the triangle holes are for dry trimming. The trimmer has a gear reduction drive and the blades spin pretty fast. And i was thinking of using my electric drill and see if i can remove the dome and then use the drill to spin the blade so i can use my free hand to manually touch the bud against the screen/grill and trim larger buds! You could essentially take a large bud and slowly roll it or hold the bud and as the leaves get chopped just rotate it. I havent put a bigger bud in it yet, it works ok and does work pretty good. I accidentally turned the handle the opposite way and nipped of a little bit of a couple of the silicone finger things. Its got a super sharp blade!

Got it on amazon. Usually i look locally on one our classifieds for used equipment or new equipment. I found a few nice tent set ups for stupid cheap that are new in boxes. So i look there first because some people buy all the stuff and grow or they give up and then you swoop in for the equipment deals. But all i could find was one for $57 and missing the handle! This was $59 new with free accessories! And i didnt want to blow a bunch of money on a bowl trimmer for larfy bud trimming.
Awe yours is pink. I just have a black one. The spacers allot for the different bud structures. You have blades and a wire cuter that is useful in the multiple bud structures. Spacers would get the cuter further away from the larfy larfy and leave a bit more bud. Or take the blades all the way down and chop it all up into pre roll material! It’s pretty cool.
I just either can’t get the hang of using a bowl trimmer or I got a bad brand of one, cause it just tears the buds to pieces if they are dry. (mine)
Tried to use it one grow, gave it a try several times, slower faster, more less bud and just wound up with a bottom bowl half full of fucked up chopped up buds.
Very cool! as much as I want a auto trimmer and hate trimming you just cant beat hand trimmed…yet!, Can’t wait till they make something that’s as good as hand trimmed
Lol yeah i have a $3k commercial trimmer. But to take it apart is a bitch. And if your not doing 100 plants its not worth breaking it out. Because the cleaning and resetting of the machine is NOT FUN! Its complex and time consuming. What works better is 3 people triming. I used to uave trim parties. But everyone was getting to loaded and drunk and were fucking my buds up. So no more of thats happening.
