I started flowering males in 2000, since then I’ve come into 7 different resinous male’s. Since breeding with them I see them more often in the offspring now assuming it’s a dominant trait through my experience. There isn’t much information on them online. Anyone else experiencing them? Images blueberry male. Bush is after re-veg. All same plant.
Welwcome ro the forum!!
No never have yet? This is very interesting? Any pics of what you speak of. Id REALLY LOVE TO SEE THAT!
Cross away from the blueberry above. Bred it to a cut of blueberry muffin. This is the F2 male. I don’t have pics of F1 though it was resinous too. 3 resinous male’s to make an F3.
I’ve made nearly 70 crosses using resinous male’s. Every single offspring has had more resinous male’s!! I think I may market these under this label after testing.
Welcome to GN. Very interesting breeding you are doing, and thank you for sharing. Have you ever had the resin/pollen tested, as there is THC in the male pollen or am I wrong?
I’m waiting on a contract to go grow in Ohio. At that time all will be tested. Hopefully sooner than later
Ahh nice, wishing you the best and hope you get that contract.
There’s THC inside the fully developed resin heads. Not inside the pollen itself. I save pollen in my freezer from every male cultivar I come in contact with. Then use it over time.
How long does the pollen last in the freezer?
Well I don’t breed and so far this year is my first crop using Reg seed and so the first time I have had to deal with Males.
BUT I have absolutely not only heard about it, but several breeders that I know of have not only had them but wish for them so they can be used as the breeding male with whatever cross or line they are working with. I would say you are blessed having encountered that many in your growing career. The high resin output on the male equates to that trait adding to whatever girl is picked.
Kudos
They look stellar

Generally if dried and stored properly with dessicant and in an airtight glass or metal container in a deep freezer 1-3 years on the extreme outside 6 years.
Seeds will last 20-30 and on the extreme end 50 years, if properly stored in sealed airtight containers so that the moisture content stays constant.
I just put my spring garden in. When I find garden seeds at the end of the year at hardware stores where everything doesn’t get purchased I load up. The seeds I put in this spring were all packed for the planting year of 2014. So they were 12 years old Produced in 2013 for 2014.
They all came up in 2-4 days, radishes, lettuce three kinds, cucumbers, swiss chard and watermelon. The peppers and tomatoes I put in I bought at Home Depot. The only thing not up already is the packed for this year brand new seedless watermelon I put in. But that’s not unexpected they are the deepest planted seeds at a little over 1" deep. cucumbers at 1/2" The rest was all 1/4" deep.
I put all these in on Sunday afternoon of this week.

So far I’ve used pollen a year old in freezer. But only got a few seeds. Sooner the better.
